A method for calibrating a transmitter-to-receiver (T2R) relative phase in millimeter wave (mmWave) beamforming system includes: transmitting a first calibrated signal to a second antenna of the mmWave beamforming system through a first antenna of the mmWave beamforming system according to a first transmitter (TX) input signal; receiving the first calibrated signal through the second antenna, and obtaining a first loopback receiver (RX) signal according to the first calibrated signal received by the second antenna; transmitting a second calibrated signal to the first antenna through the second antenna according to a second TX input signal; receiving the second calibrated signal through the first antenna, and obtaining a second loopback RX signal according to the second calibrated signal received by the first antenna; and calibrating the T2R relative phase according to a phase difference between the first and second loopback RX signals.

Method for calibrating transmiter-to-receiver relative phase in millimeter wave beamforming system and associated millimeter wave antenna module

A method of sparse digital cancellation of receiver nonlinear distortion in carrier aggregation systems is proposed. A reference signal generator generates possible candidate reference signals to be included in a dictionary matrix D. A sparsity-based solution is then applied to dynamically select reference signals based on the RF transceiver configuration. Based on the auto-correlation and cross-correlation with an observed radio signal, a subset of reference signals is selected from the dictionary matrix to match the distortion signal. The number of selected reference signals is flexibly determined based on the design constraints on complexity and power consumption. A greedy sparse estimation approaches, e.g., Orthogonal Matching Pursuit (OMP) can be used for reference signal selection. The reference signal selection is dynamic and adapts itself for different channel responses through correlating the observed radio signal with the dictionary reference signals.

Digital cancellation of receiver nonlinear distortion in carrier aggregation systems

A system and method of transmit diversity for wireless communication. The system includes a transmitting terminal having a plurality of transmission antennas and a receiving terminal having a plurality of receiving antennas. The method includes analyzing channel state information obtained by the transmitting terminal; selecting an antenna to be one in use from the receiving antennas; matching the selected antenna in use with the wireless signals that are to be transmitted; transmitting wireless signals that are matched to the receiving terminal for being calculated and determining the pre-selected antenna in use, thereby significantly reducing complexities of the receiving terminal.
