A method for orchestrating resources in a multi-access edge computing (MEC) network is applied in and by an apparatus. The MEC network comprises at least one control node, substrate nodes and substrate links managed by the at least one control node. The apparatus receives a virtual network request and calculates whether a proper virtual network embedding solution for the virtual network request exists. If so, the apparatus hands the solution over to the at least one control node for implementation.

Method and apparatus for orchestrating resources in multi-access edge computing (MEC) network

A method for establishing bearers in a wireless communication system is provided. The wireless communication system includes a user equipment (UE), a base station, a core network, and a mobile edge computing (MEC) entity. The method includes the following actions. A first bearer between the UE and the MEC entity is established. The first bearer transports at least one data flow. Whether the at least one data flow forms a feedback loop is determined. A second bearer between the UE and the MEC entity is configured when the at least one data flow forms the feedback loop.

Method and apparatus for establishing bearers in a wireless communication system

A method for deterministic directional discovery of neighbor devices by a device in a wireless network comprises dividing equally an access time to a discovery channel to predefined number of sector scanning periods (), wherein each sector scanning period includes a predefined number of discovery sweep periods (), and each discovery sweep period includes a predefined number of time slots (); scanning the discovery channel in a single sector during a current sector scanning period (S); transmitting a discovery frame towards each sector during each time slot of each discovery sweep period of the current sector scanning period (S); checking if at least one response to a transmitted discovery frame has been received during the current sector scanning period (S); and setting the device to scan the discovery channel in a next sector during a next sector scanning period, thereby sequentially accessing the predefined number of sector scanning periods (S).

Method and device for deterministic directional discovery of wireless devices

A method and wireless device merge multiple unsynchronized beacon groups in a wireless network, each beacon group including at least one wireless device. A first beacon is received from at least one first wireless device in a first beacon group (S), the first wireless device having a first directional antenna. A second beacon is received from at least one second wireless device in a second beacon group that is not synchronized with the first beacon group (S), the second wireless device having a second directional antenna. A first response beacon is relocated (S) and sent (S) to the first wireless device in the first beacon group. The relocated first response beacon instructs the first wireless device to relocate the first beacon. Accordingly, the second beacon, the relocated first response beacon, and the relocated first beacon are synchronized.

Apparatus and method for merging beacon transmission and reception

A fast device discovery protocol with a high success rate for device-to-device (D2D) communication in LTE-A networks is proposed. With the proposed protocol, device discovery is done by monitoring a randomly transmitted beacon from other devices within a pre-defined period. In one embodiment, an eNB receives scheduling requests from D2D UEs and in response allocates a distributed uplink resource for random access of beacon transmission by the D2D UEs. The distributed resource is dynamically allocated based on the number of requesting D2D UEs, a discovery period, and a target discovery probability to minimize the required resource.

Device discovery using distributed random access for device to device communication

Dynamic device naming and connection in wireless communication system and method thereof

A method enables a wireless device () to rendezvous with another wireless device () through a wireless network (), where activation schedules of the wireless devices are not synchronized. The method includes determining a number of time units in each cycle of multiple communication cycles, identifying active time units in each cycle during which the first wireless device enters an active mode, and identifying inactive time units in each cycle during which the first wireless device enters an inactive mode. The sum of the active time units and the inactive time units equals the number of time units in each cycle. A first active time unit in each cycle occupies a same position in the cycle as an active time unit in a previous consecutive cycle. Also, a second active time unit in each cycle occupies a different position in the cycle than any active time unit in the previous consecutive cycle.

Apparatus and method for enabling communications among unsynchronized wireless devices

A wireless device () communicates in a wireless system by selecting a communication channel () for communication, identifying a control channel or control channels () designated for communication of control information for the selected communication channel, and listening for the control information () on the control channel to determine if the selected communication channel is bonded with any other communication channel. When control information is received via the control channel(s) indicating that the selected communication channel is bonded with at least one other communication channel, then the wireless device abstains from communication on the selected communication channel, or communicates in a narrowband mode. When control information is received via the control channel(s) indicating that the selected communication channel is not bonded with another communication channel, or when no control information is received via the control channel, then the wireless device communicates via the selected communication channel.

Communication device and method of communication that bonds communication channels together

The present invention provides a system (), device () and method () for automatic partner selection in an existing Cooperative MAC (CMAC) protocol, which uses the Ready-to-Send (RTS), Clear-to-Send (CTS) and Partner-Clear-to-Send (PCTS) handshaking to establish cooperation. The present invention enables a 'best' partner/relay (R.k) who is also willing to cooperate to relay information to a destination (D.J) for the transmitting device (i.e., the source), without the source (S.i) making a decision on partner selection. That is, the present invention provides a new mechanism by which the best partner/relay (R.k) that is also willing to cooperate will 'step in' automatically without the source's involvement in selection of the partner/relay (R.k). This mechanism is contention-based and the partner is &#x201c;selected&#x201d; using local information only in a fully distributed manner.

In a coordination-free rendezvous method for a communication network, time is divided into superslots with each superslot being further divided into slots. At least one first-class slot and at least one second-class slot are selected out of the slots of each superslot. The relative position between the first-class slot and the second-class slot is changed every superslot, thereby the first-class slots or the second-class slots between or among devices of the communication network may overlap each other in a periodic manner.

Coordination-free rendezvous method for a communication network

A method and apparatus discover hidden wireless devices in a wireless network using a directional antenna system, preventing partitioning of the wireless network. A first wireless device located in a first antenna sector is joined in response to an initial first beacon. First beacons are received from the joined first wireless device during corresponding first beacon periods. At least a second antenna sector is scanned during at least one first beacon period to listen for second beacons from a second wireless device in the second antenna sector, while remaining joined with the first wireless device. The first beacons are not received while the second antenna sector is scanned. The second wireless device is joined in response to an initial second beacon. Second beacons are then received from the joined second wireless device during corresponding second beacon periods, and the first beacons are received during the corresponding first beacon periods.

Apparatus and method for enabling discovery of wireless devices

In a wireless communication network () comprising a plurality of devices (), a method of discovering a route for transmitting data from a source device (A) to a destination device (D) via multi-hop relay, includes broadcasting from the source device (A) a route discovery request for transmitting data to the destination device (HOD). The route discovery request includes: a first field indicating a hop-count limit, a second field indicating a number of slots, X, required for transmitting the data, a third field indicating an ID for the source device (A), and a fourth field indicating an ID for the destination device (HOD). The source device (A) then receives a route discovery response indicating a route from the source device (A) to the destination device (HOD). The route discovery response includes a first field indicating a number of hops between the source device (A) and the destination device (HOD).

Method of discovering an ad-hoc on-demand distance vector route having at least a minimum set of available resources in a distributed wireless communications network

A communication system includes first and second devices, where a processor of at least one of the first device and the second device is configured to establish a superframe having a superframe duration (T) and transmit a beacon by the first device during each of the superframe duration (T); scan by the second device all sectors (N) by scanning each sector for a superframe duration (T) and repeating a jump sequence. The jump sequence has a sequence duration (T) which is equal to a sum of a control duration (T) of a control channel and durations of data channels (KT). The processor is further configured to find the first device by the second device during a find time (T), where the control duration (T) is greater than the durations of data channels (KT).
