A power management circuit adapted for a portable electronic device is provided. The portable electronic device receives a supply voltage from a USB power supplying port through a built-in USB charging port. The power management circuit includes a USB detection unit, a voltage detection unit, and a control unit. The USB detection unit determines the type of the USB power supplying port. The voltage detection unit detects the supply voltage. The control unit configures the power consumption of the portable electronic device based on the type of the USB power supplying port and the supply voltage. When the portable electronic device initiates booting process with the USB power supplying port being the Dedication Charging Port and the supply voltage being lowered than a threshold, the control unit reduces the power consumption of the portable electronic device to maintain the supply voltage above the threshold for booting stably.

Power management circuit and method thereof

An electronic device includes a first battery, a first charging unit, a first voltage adjustment unit, a power detection module, and a first control module. The first charging unit charges the first battery according to a supply voltage and a first charging enable signal. The first voltage adjustment unit outputs a first output voltage according to the supply voltage and a first battery voltage of the first battery. The power detection module generates a power consumption information according to the first output voltage. The first control module sets a charging time according to the supply voltage and the power consumption information, in which the first control module generates the first charging enable signal to control the first charging unit to charge the first battery according to the charging time.

Charging methods of detachable electronic devices

A charging device including a charging circuit, a voltage detection circuit, and a keyboard controller is provided. The charging circuit receives a charging power source, and produces a battery-charging power source at a first node by the charging power source to charge a battery. The voltage detection circuit detects a voltage at the first node, and produces a voltage detection result. The keyboard controller determines whether the voltage at the first node is less than a predetermined voltage according to the voltage detection result, and determines whether a predetermined condition has been satisfied, wherein the predetermined condition includes the voltage at the first node being less than the predetermined voltage, and the keyboard controller is arranged to force the charging circuit to stop producing the battery-charging power source at the first node when the predetermined condition has been satisfied.

Device and method using a keyboard controller and voltage detection circuitry for battery charging

An activate circuit for an electronic device includes a first node, a first transistor including a source coupled to a ground, a drain coupled to the first node, and a gate coupled to a battery voltage, a first diode including an anode coupled to an activate signal, and a cathode a first resistance coupled between the cathode of the first diode and the first node, a capacitor coupled between the first node and the ground having a logic low level, and a second transistor including a source coupled to the ground, a drain coupled to the activate signal, and a gate coupled to the first node.

Activate circuit and electronic device

The present disclosure illustrates a battery charging circuit, adapted for charging a rechargeable battery. The battery charging circuit includes a temperature sensing unit, a current control unit, and a charging unit. The temperature sensing unit is coupled to a temperature output pin of the rechargeable battery to output a temperature signal according to the sensed temperature of the rechargeable battery. The current control unit is coupled to the temperature sensing unit for outputting a control voltage according to the received temperature signal. The charging unit is coupled to the current control unit and outputs a charging current to charge the rechargeable battery. When temperature of the rechargeable battery exceeds a predefined temperature range, the charging unit discontinues outputting the charging current. Hence, the battery charging circuit can completely fulfill the charging requirement of the rechargeable battery thereby increase the associated charging efficiency.

Battery charging circuit

A portable computer system includes a host, a power storage device and a dock. The power storage device is installed in the host, for sensing current from a first power socket to a first power terminal to generate a first sensing result, and charging a first rechargeable battery according to a first control signal. The dock is capable of connecting to the host by means of insertion, for sensing current from a second power socket to a second power terminal to generate a second sensing result, and charging a second rechargeable battery according to a second control signal. The dock includes a control device for outputting the first control signal and the second control signal according to the first sensing result and the second sensing result, to control charging operations on the first rechargeable battery and the second rechargeable battery.

Portable computer system and related power supply device and charging method

A voltage regulator for regulating a voltage of a direct current source is disclosed. The voltage regulator includes a current-limiting circuit and a power-storing circuit. The current-limiting circuit is used for limiting an output current of the direct current source. The power-storing circuit is used for storing output power of the direct current source.
