An image forming apparatus including: a plurality of medium trays to stack a print medium having an image formed thereon by an image forming unit; a driving source to momentarily apply a direction switching signal; a selector to select a carrying path of the print medium having the image formed thereon, the carrying path directing the print medium to one of the plurality of medium trays; and a switch unit connected to the driving source to set a position of the selector in order to direct the print medium along the carrying path according to the direction switching signal. Accordingly, power is only used momentarily to direct the print medium to a medium tray from among a plurality of medium trays.

A versatile paper feeding device of an image forming apparatus includes a pick-up roller, a paper support tray under the pick-up roller to stack paper on, a paper support expansion tray to be able to freely slide toward or away from the paper support tray to support the trailing edge of the paper, a forward positioned paper alignment guide on the paper support tray to align a leading end portion of the paper, and a second paper alignment member formed on the paper support expansion tray to align a following end portion of the paper. When the versatile paper feeding device is used to print images on paper of various sizes, the paper can be properly positioned and straightly fed without skewing.

A paper cassette adapted for use in a printing device has a cassette body connected to a body of the printing device, a supporting plate having a first end being pivotally disposed in the cassette body to support printing paper, a spring elastically supporting a lower side of the supporting plate relative to a bottom of the cassette body, a finger member disposed on the cassette body to limit a rising height of the supporting plate and separating the printing paper sheet by sheet, and a shock absorbing portion guiding a rising and lowering movement of the supporting plate and lessening a shock exerted on the finger member when the supporting plate stacked with the printing paper rises from a lowered state by reducing a rising speed of the supporting plate that is raised by the spring.
