A video instant messaging method includes: picking up information in front of a display panel from different directions to capture a number of facial images; extracting a number of groups of characteristic vectors from the facial images respectively; measuring a number of degrees of similarity each associated with a extracted characteristic vector using a group of reference characteristic vector; calculating a number of total degrees of similarity each associated with a facial image using the measured degrees of similarity; and transmitting the facial image having the highest total degree of similarity.

Video instant messaging system and method thereof

The instant video messaging system includes a display unit, an image capture unit, and a capture adjustment sub-system. The display unit is configured to display consecutive images transmitted from a remote end via a network. The image capture unit is configured to capture the consecutive images in a predetermined area. An imaging device includes a capturing module with at least one lens for capturing an image from a scene, a driving module for driving the at least one lens to different focusing positions using different driving steps, a flat-scene judging module, and a step-judging module. The flat-scene judging module divides the image into a central area and a plurality of peripheral areas, and determines whether the captured scene is a flat scene according to the divided image. The step-judging module determines whether the driving steps corresponding to a maximum focusing value of the central area of the image are same as driving steps corresponding to respective maximum focusing values of the peripheral areas of image, and changes the driving steps corresponding to the maximum focusing value of the central area to the driving steps corresponding to the greatest one of the maximum focusing values of the peripheral areas.

A white balance adjustment method for a digital image capturing device is disclosed. The white balance adjustment method comprises the steps of: setting a color temperature estimation area; capturing an image with the digital image capturing device; choosing one or more analysis blocks from the image; determining whether values of Cb and Cr of each analysis block are located in either a color temperature zone or a white zone of the color temperature estimation area; collecting and calculating each point value of each color temperature that is located in the color temperature estimation area to obtaining a final color temperature; and performing a white balance adjustment procedure according to the final color temperature.
