A tension mask frame assembly of a color cathode-ray tube, the assembly including a tension mask including a plurality of parallel strips spaced at predetermined intervals apart from each other and a plurality of real bridges for connecting adjacent strips to each other to form slots through which electron beams pass, the number of real bridges gradually decreasing in a direction from the center portion of the mask to the peripheral portion thereof, a frame for supporting the tension mask so that a tensile force is applied to the tension mask in the direction of strips, and at least one damper which is installed on the frame and contact the strips of the tension mask.

A tension mask for a color picture tube includes a plurality of strips separated a predetermined distance from each other and parallel to each other, and a plurality of real bridges for connecting the neighboring strips and forming slots through which electron beams pass, the number of the real bridges gradually decreasing from the central portion of the tension mask to the peripheral portion thereof.

A method of manufacturing a cathode ray tube includes the steps of providing a stem with a flange having an outer diameter smaller than an inner diameter of a bottom end of the neck, performing a sealing operation between the stem and the neck in such a state that a bottom side of the flange is in a position, externally distant from the bottom end of the neck less than a thickness (mm) of the flange while internally distant from it less than twice the thickness of the flange, and moving the stem downward during the sealing operation so as to elongate the sealed portion of the neck, thereby preventing it from being deflated.
