A magnetic core of an electric motor includes a central portion and a plurality of teeth extending outwardly from the central portion, the teeth disposed along a circumferential direction of the central portion. Each tooth includes a tooth body, two neck portions and two crown portions, the neck portions respectively connecting the crown portions to the tooth body, the two crown portions respectively extending beyond opposite sides of the tooth body. Each of the two neck portions of each tooth has a minimum width which is 0.1&#x2dc;0.3 times of the width of the tooth body. The present invention further provides an electric motor that employs the magnetic core which can increase the peak value of the cogging torque of the motor.

Electric motor and magnetic core thereof

A motor and methods for making and using same. The motor includes a stator having a first stator portion with first and second arcuate regions. The arcuate regions can receive a rotor with a magnetic pole and being concentrically arranged with the stator relative to a central axis. The stator can have one or more winding portions for being wound with a winding and extending from the first stator portion opposite the arcuate regions. When the winding is not energized, a first magnetic coupling between the first arcuate region and a selected magnetic pole is greater than a second magnetic coupling between the second arcuate region and the selected magnetic pole. A selected winding portion is angularly offset from the first arcuate region to advantageously enable movement of the rotor to initiate in either of two opposite directions relative to the selected winding portion when the winding is energized.

Motor and method for using and making the same

A transverse flux motor () includes a housing (), a stator (), and a rotor () external to the stator () and installed onto the housing. The stator () includes a stator sub-assembly including at least one pair of stator core elements (), each having multiple stator pole teeth () circumferentially offset from pole teeth of the other stator core element in the pair. The rotor () includes a rotor body () made of a single piece part or multiple rotor body laminas (). The rotor body () includes multiple magnetic flux retention features () for positioning first magnets (). Two adjacent magnetic flux retention features () define a second magnet retention feature () for positioning a second magnet () that form a substantially U-shape together with two neighboring first magnets with the same magnetic poles facing each other.

Transverse flux permanent magnet rotatory device

An electromagnetic drive mechanism () comprises a rotor () configured to rotate within a stator (). The rotor () and stator () have multiple poles (), wherein each pole comprises a radial inner portion () and a radial outer portion (). The radial inner portions () and radial outer portions () of the rotor () and stator () have different heights, forming a step () between the radial inner and outer portions of the rotor () and stator (). This configuration allows for overlapping radial surfaces in addition to overlapping axial surfaces during operation of the drive mechanism (), thereby increasing the total overlap area and thus the reluctance torque, and potentially improving response speed while allowing for a more compact device ().
