An axial multi-piston compressor includes a drive shaft, a cylinder block having cylinder bores formed therein and surrounding the drive shaft, and a plurality of pistons slidably received in the respective cylinder bores, wherein the pistons are successively reciprocated in the cylinder bores by a rotation of the drive shaft so that a suction stroke and a discharge stroke are alternately executed in each of the cylinder bores. During the suction stroke, a fluid is introduced into the cylinder bore, and during the compression stroke, the introduced fluid is compressed and discharged from the cylinder bore such that a residual part of the compressed fluid is inevitably left in the cylinder bore when the compression stroke is finished. The compressor further includes a rotary valve for allowing the residual part of the compressed fluid to escape from the cylinder bore into another cylinder bore governed by the compression stroke.

An axial multi-piston compressor includes a drive shaft, a cylinder block having cylinder bores formed therein and surrounding the drive shaft, and a plurality of pistons slidably received in the respective cylinder bores, wherein the pistons are successively reciprocated in the cylinder bores by a rotation of the drive shaft so that a suction stroke and a discharge stroke are alternately executed in each of the cylinder bores. During the suction stroke, a fluid is introduced into the cylinder bore, and during the compression stroke, the introduced fluid is compressed and discharged from the cylinder bore such that a residual part of the compressed fluid is inevitably left in the cylinder bore when the compression stroke is finished. A vane-type rotary refrigerant compressor adapted for use in an air conditioning system is disclosed which includes a rotor fixed on a drive shaft for rotation therewith and disposed in an elliptical chamber of a cylinder block which is enclosed by a housing and whose axial ends are closed by front and rear side plates. The rotor has a plurality of slots in which vanes are slidably received so that a plurality of compression chambers are formed during the operation of the compressor. An oil separator compartment is defined by the housing and the rear side plate, communicating with a discharge chamber into which compressed refrigerant is discharged. In the rear side plate is formed a discharge passage establishing communication between the discharge chamber and the oil separator compartment. The discharge passage has a restricted portion and a bend so as to provide resistance against the flow of the compressed refrigerant for damping its pulsating stream.

Rotary vane-type compressor

A reciprocatory piston type compressor having a compressor body in which a low pressure suction chamber for the refrigerant before compression, a discharge chamber for the refrigerant after compression, and a plurality of axial cylinder bores receiving a corresponding number of reciprocatory pistons are provided therein, and a rotating plate suction valve capable of mechanically and forcibly opening suction ports in synchronism with the suction stroke of the reciprocatory pistons to thereby permit the refrigerant gas before compression to be drawn into the cylinder bores without time delay. A discharge valve capable of mechanically and forcibly open the discharge ports in synchronism with the discharge stroke of the pistons is also provided in the compressor body.

An improved wobble plate type variable displacement compressor compressing the refrigerant gas with pistons and discharges the gas from a discharge chamber is disclosed. The piston stroke is adjusted according to the tilt angle of the wobble plate which is varied by the magnitude of the inner pressure of the crank case. The first passage connects a suction chamber to the crank case for transferring the pressure of the crank case to the suction chamber. The second passage connects the crank case to the discharge chamber for transferring the pressure of the discharge chamber to the crank case via a restriction when the difference between the pressures and within the discharge chamber and the crank case is in excess of the predetermined value.

Variable displacement compressor

A variable displacement swash plate type compressor comprises a suction chamber, a discharge chamber and a crank chamber. A flow rate control valve mechanism is provided along a refrigerant supply passage, which connects the discharge chamber to the crank chamber. The flow rate control valve mechanism is provided with a discharge pressure chamber and an intermediate chamber. A valve hole is provided between the discharge pressure chamber and the intermediate chamber, to permit both chambers to communicate with each other. A pressure sensitive member is provided in the intermediate chamber to separate the intermediate chamber into a first and a second pressure sensitive chambers. The first pressure sensitive chamber communicates with the discharge pressure chamber via the valve hole. The second pressure sensitive chamber communicates with either the crank chamber or the suction chamber. The pressure sensitive member is displaceable as a function of the pressure difference between the first and second pressure sensitive chambers. A restriction permits the first pressure sensitive chamber and the crank chamber to communicate with each other. A valve body is coupled to the pressure sensitive member to be displaceable in synchrony with the action of the pressure sensitive member, and regulates the opening of the valve hole according to the displacement. A return member biases the valve body and the pressure sensitive member to a valve open position when the pressure in the discharge chamber becomes almost zero.

A variable capacity wobble plate type compressor having a non-rotatory wobble plate supported on a magnetic material support member to non-rotatively wobble to move compressing pistons in cylinder bores, a steel drive shaft driven by a drive source via a solenoid-operated clutch and causing the non-rotative wobble of the wobble plate at a given angle of inclination that is changed to vary the capacity of the compressor, and a capacity detecting unit provided with a permanent magnet attached to an outer periphery of the wobble plate, a magnetic sensor fixedly attached to the crankcase of the outer casing, for sensing an approach and departure of the permanent magnet of the wobble plate. The magnetic sensor generates electric signals indicating the approach and departure of the permanent magnet of the wobble plate, and a binary circuit electrically connected to the magnetic sensor converts the electric signals of the magnetic sensor into electric binary signals by which the capacity of the compressor is determined. The capacity detecting unit is also provided with an arrangement wherein a magnetic flux delivered from the permanent magnet flows in a direction opposite to that of a magnetic flux leaking from the solenoid-operated clutch through the drive shaft and the support member to prevent erroneous electric binary signals when the permanent magnet attached to the wobble plate is close to the magnetic sensor.

A reciprocatory piston type compressor is provided with partition walls in a discharge chamber or chambers, the walls being arranged between discharge ports open to the discharge chamber, respectively, to prevent flows of refrigerant gas discharged from the discharge ports from directly interfering with each other at least during the time in which the opening of two adjacent discharge reed valves overlap one another. The partition walls may be formed integrally with a cylinder head of the compressor in such a manner that the partition walls extend centripetally from an inner wall surface of the cylinder head defining the discharge chamber. The flows of refrigerant gas discharged from the two adjacent discharge ports which are open will not interfere with each other but will be guided independently and centripetally along the partition walls in the discharge chamber toward the tops of the partition walls, and then toward an opening that leads to an outer discharge conduit.
