An Expression system; isolated nucleic acid molecule or host cell comprising: (i) A first gene encoding for a first enzyme linked to a first promoter, wherein the first promoter is a time delay promoter; (ii) A second gene encoding for a second enzyme capable of using the product generated by the first enzyme as a substrate, wherein the second gene is operably linked to a second promoter, wherein the second promoter is inducible by the product generated by the first enzyme; (iii) Optionally, a third gene encoding a transcription factor that represses expression of the second gene in the absence of the product generated by the first enzyme, wherein the third gene is operably linked to a third promoter that regulates expression of the third gene; and its use in producing a product such as hydroxybenzaldehyde.

The present invention relates to a recombinant expression system comprising at least: (i) a first nucleotide sequence encoding for at least one protein of a quorum sensing system capable of detecting the presence, amount or both of a microorganism of interest by forming a complex with a marker molecule indicating the presence of said microorganism; (ii) a second nucleotide sequence encoding for at least one antimicrobial peptide, wherein the at least one antimicrobial peptide is effective against the microorganism of interest detected by the at least one protein encoded by the first nucleotide sequence, (iii) a third nucleotide sequence encoding for a genetic inverter that inhibits expression of the second nucleotide sequence, wherein the genetic inverter is under control of an inducible promoter and wherein the inducible promoter is induced if the complex of the at least one protein encoded by the first nucleotide sequence and the marker molecule indicating the presence of said microorganism is below a threshold concentration and is not induced if the complex of the at least one protein encoded by the first nucleotide sequence and the marker molecule indicating the presence of said microorganism exceeds a threshold concentration. Further encompassed is the use of the expression system and cells comprising the expression system of the invention.

Recombinant expression system that senses pathogenic microorganisms

The present invention relates to an isolated nucleic acid molecule comprising a first nucleotide sequence encoding a protein that detects the presence, amount or both of a pathogenic microorganism by forming a complex with a protein produced by said pathogenic microorganism; a second nucleotide sequence encoding an antimicrobial peptide, wherein the antimicrobial peptide is effective against the pathogenic microorganism detected by the protein encoded by the first nucleotide sequence, wherein the second nucleotide sequence is under control of a promoter that is induced by the complex of the protein encoded by the first nucleotide sequence and the protein produced by said pathogenic microorganism. A recombinant microorganism comprising the isolated nucleic acid molecule and a method of sensing and killing pathogenic microorganisms is also described.

A method of preparing a digital medical image for secure transmission, the method comprising embedding data into the digital medical image using a reversible watermarking process, generating a code for tamper detection and localization from the digital medical image using a computational function, and embedding the code for tamper detection and localization into the digital medical image using the reversible watermarking process; and a method of reviewing a digital medical image prepared by the method of preparing, the method of reviewing comprising retrieving the code for tamper detection and localization from the digital medical image; reversing the watermarking processes to obtain a restored image; generating a code from the restored image using the computational function; and comparing the retrieved code for tamper detection and localization with the code generated from the restored image to detect and locate tampering.
