A liquid crystal display panel includes a first substrate, a second substrate opposite to the first substrate, a plurality of scan lines, a plurality of data lines intersecting with the scan lines, a plurality of pixel areas defined by the scan lines and the data lines, and a plurality of electrodes. Each electrode is positioned in a corresponding pixel area. Each pixel area has an inner surface. The electrode includes a branch portion, a frame connected to the branch portion, and a plurality of first slits defined by the frame and the branch portion, away from the inner surface of the pixel area.

Liquid crystal display panel

A liquid crystal display (LCD) device includes an LCD panel, and a common voltage generating circuit configured for providing common voltages to the LCD panel. The common voltage generating circuit includes a microprocessor, a timer, a voltage adjustment circuit, and a look up table. The microprocessor is electrically connected to the timer, the look up table, and the voltage adjustment circuit. The timer is configured for recording a continuous operated time of the LCD panel. The look up table is configured for storing optimal common voltages corresponding to each continuous operated time. The microprocessor is configured for reading the optimal common voltage at set intervals corresponding to the continuous operated time, and controlling the voltage adjustment circuit to provide the corresponding optimal common voltage to the LCD panel.

A transflective liquid crystal display (LCD) includes a plurality of pixel regions. Each pixel region includes a transparent electrode receiving a gray voltage and a plurality of electrically floating reflectors. Each pixel region includes a first switch element, a second switch element, a first pixel electrode, and a second pixel electrode. The first switch element and the second switch element are connected with a same gate line from the plurality of gate lines. The first pixel electrode is applied with data signals from a data line from the plurality of data lines via the first switch element. The second pixel electrode is applied with data signals from the data line from the plurality of data lines via the second switch element and a voltage dividing element.

The first substrate, the second substrate and the liquid crystal layer form a plurality of pixel elements, each of the pixel elements is divided into a plurality of regions by the first region-dividing structures and the second region-dividing structures, and the liquid crystal molecules have gradually and continuously changed alignments in at least one of the regions.

A liquid crystal display () has a first substrate (), a second substrate (), and liquid crystal molecules () interposed between the substrates. Curved first slits () and curved second slits () are defined at insides of the substrates respectively. When an electric field is applied between the substrates, the liquid crystal molecules are inclined to be oriented parallel to the substrates. In addition, the curved first slits and the curved second slits affect the orientations of the liquid crystal molecules, such that the liquid crystal molecules are directed to incline in various directions in smooth continuums. The visual effect of the continuous domain vertical alignment liquid crystal display is the sum of multiple smooth continuous domains. Thus the continuous domain vertical alignment liquid crystal display provides a more even display performance at various different viewing angles.

Continuous domain vertical alignment liquid crystal display

An in plane switching liquid crystal display () includes a first substrate (), a second substrate () and a liquid crystal layer () having a plurality of liquid crystal molecules. A number of pixel electrodes () and common electrodes () are formed on the first substrate, and each of the pixel electrodes and common electrodes include at least two bend portions (). Each bend portion has a first side and a second side. An original alignment direction of the liquid crystal molecules form at least two different angles with the sides of the bend portions of the common and pixel electrodes. When a voltage is applied to the pixel electrodes and the common electrodes, the liquid crystal molecules are aligned along at least three different directions. Therefore, the IPS-LCD can have uniform viewing performance at different viewing angles.

In-plane switching liquid crystal display with bent electrodes

A liquid crystal display device () includes an upper substrate (), a lower substrate (), and a liquid crystal layer () between the upper substrate and the lower substrate. The upper substrate includes an upper polarizer () and a color filter layer (), the upper polarizer being an extraordinary type polarizer. The lower substrate includes a reflective film (). A multiplicity of pixel electrodes () and common electrodes () are positioned at the lower substrate, for applying a voltage to the liquid crystal layer. The display device has a wide viewing angle, can work at high temperatures, and is relatively thin and compact. Further, the color filter layer is positioned above the upper polarizer. Optical beams reach the color filter layer after passing back through the liquid crystal layer and the upper polarizer. This reduces or eliminates color filter de-polarizing, and yields a high contrast ratio over wide viewing angles.
