An operations support system is provided for an engine. The system includes a diagnostics module configured to receive engine data from the engine and to generate diagnostics data based on the engine data using a thermodynamic model, the thermodynamic model being based on component maps associated with the engine; an acoustics module coupled to the diagnostics module and comprising an acoustics calculation unit, the acoustics calculation unit configured to receive the diagnostics data and to determine an acoustics level for the engine based on the diagnostics data; and a graphical user interface coupled to the acoustics module and configured to display the acoustics level.

Operations support systems and methods with acoustics evaluation and control

An aircraft cabin pressure control system outflow valve includes a frame, a valve element, and a vortex generator structure. The vortex generator structure is coupled to the valve element and is rotatable therewith, and includes a plurality of first vortex generators and a plurality of second vortex generators. The first vortex generators spaced are apart from each other and are configured to generate first vortices when the valve element is in an open position and fluid flows through the flow passage. The second vortex generators are formed in each of the first vortex generators and are spaced apart from each other. The second vortex generators are each configured to generate second vortices, which are smaller than the first vortices, when the valve element is in an open position and fluid flows through the flow passage.

Methods integrated tailcone muffler (ITM) is provided for minimizing noise generated while discharging pressurized air from one or more aircraft gas turbine engines. The ITM comprises a tail cone defining a conical backing cavity, the conical backing cavity having a large forward end and a narrow aft end and a porous exhaust liner with a first end and a second end, the first end coupled to an oil cooler eductor discharge plenum of a first gas turbine engine of the one or more gas turbine engines and a second end discharging to atmosphere via the narrow aft end of the conical backing cavity. The ITM further comprises a bleed air discharge conduit configured to discharge pressurized bleed air from the one or more gas turbine engines into the conical backing cavity and a firewall bulkhead defining the large forward end of the conical backing cavity, defining a first aperture passing the cylindrical porous exhaust liner and defining a second aperture passing the bleed air discharge conduit, the firewall bulkhead extending radially from both of the cylindrical porous exhaust liner and the bleed air discharge conduit.
