A ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) electrical receptacle arrangement includes an indication system for clearly indicating the operating state of the GFCI. When the GFCI is in a trip state, a first window on a reset button illuminates to indicate to the user that the reset button needs to be actuated in order to re-close the circuit supplying power to the receptacles. When the GFCI is in an end-of-life state, a second window stating 'Replace receptacle' illuminates. The windows are formed in portions of a wall of a front enclosure of the GFCI that are thinner than surrounding portions. A light pipe is disposed in the interior of the GFCI housing for each window between the window and an LED. When the LED is illuminated, the light pipe facilitates illumination of the window.

A dimmer includes a power supply circuit including a current limiter and a switch, the power supply circuit electrically coupled to a power source and a load, where current is channeled via the current limiter during a power-on of the dimmer and via the switch during operation of the dimmer after the power-on, a triode for alternating current (TRIAC) control circuit electrically coupled to the power source and the load, where the TRIAC control circuit is structured to control operation of a TRIAC configured to control an amount of power supplied to the load; and a processing unit electrically coupled to the power supply circuit and the TRIAC control circuit, where the processing unit is structured to control the switch and the TRIAC control circuit after the power-on.

A thermal protection switch device may include: a power circuit that includes a phase line and a neutral line; a current sensor electrically connected to the phase line to detect the current flow in the phase line; a temperature sensor thermally coupled to the phase line to detect the temperature of the phase line; and another temperature sensor thermally coupled to the neutral line to detect the temperature of the neutral line. The device also includes a trip circuit configured to interrupt the phase line when activated and a controller configured to receive output signals from the above current and temperature sensors. The controller may activate the trip circuit to interrupt the phase line in response to determining that certain conditions have occurred.

A shutter assembly is for an electrical receptacle. The electrical receptacle has a base. The shutter assembly includes a first shutter and a second shutter each structured to be coupled to the base and rotate between a FIRST position and a SECOND position, and a slider assembly having a number of slider members each structured to be coupled to the base. The number of slider members includes only one single slider member structured to slide between a THIRD position and a FOURTH position and engage each of the first shutter and the second shutter. Rotation of both of the first shutter and the second shutter from the FIRST position to the SECOND position cooperatively drives the one single slider member from the THIRD position to the FOURTH position in order to provide access through the base.

Electrical receptacle and tamper-resistant shutter assembly therefor

An electrical outlet device includes a connection circuit having neutral, hot and ground terminals that are configured to be connected to a corresponding line of a power source. The device also includes an interface panel with a receptacle configured to receive a load. An indicator interface device is attached to the interface panel. The indicator interface device includes at least three sets of light-emitting diodes (LEDs), and at least three switching circuits that are configured to turn the LED sets on and off. At least one combination of on/off states of the first, second and third LED sets indicates a correct connection or a unique type of error in a connection between the power source and the connection circuit.
