The present disclosure generally relates to a curable one part silicone composition. The curable one part silicone composition includes an organopolysiloxane compound having at least two unsaturated groups; an organohydrogenpolysiloxane compound having at least two Si&#x2014;H groups; a catalyst for enabling the addition of the hydrogen atoms bonded to the silicone to the unsaturated group; and at least one surface treated particulate filler. The curable one part silicone composition is useful as a dental impression material. More particularly, the curable one part silicone composition including the surface treated filler extends storage stability of the dental impression material. The disclosure also provides methods of preparing such curable one part silicone composition.

A method is described herein for the preparation of a resin that may be used as a component in formulations of hydrosilation cured vinyl disiloxanes to increase the hydrophilicity and thereby reduce the contact angle. The resin is a vinyl functionalized alkoxy-siloxylated polyether or polyester copolymer and the method involves reacting a hydride functionalized siloxane in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst with (a) one or more of an alcohol, a polyether diol, a polyether polyol, a polyester diol or polyester polyol and (b) a hydride functionalized siloxane containing a terminal vinyl group directly bonded to a silicon atom. This resin can be used in the formulation of dental impression materials.

Vinyl functionalized alkoxy-siloxylated polyethers and polyesters

A composition curable by a metathesis reaction upon mixing its components and comprising an olefin-containing substrate, a metathesis catalyst, and a reaction control agent for slowing the progress of the metathesis reaction. The metathesis catalyst is a ruthenium or osmium carbene complex catalyst having high activity and good air stability. In one embodiment, the catalyst is free of phosphine ligands. The reaction control agent is an organic compound that contains carbon-carbon double and/or triple bonds and one or more Group 14 atoms and is present in an amount effective to slow the progress of the metathesis reaction. In one embodiment, the olefin-containing substrate may comprise one or more oligomers or polymers having a &#x3e;20 wt. % linear siloxane (Si&#x2014;O&#x2014;Si) backbone tethered and/or end-capped with functional olefin groups, such as cycloalkenyl group.

Metathesis-curable composition with a reaction control agent

One-part and two-part compositions curable by a metathesis reaction comprising a resin containing a polyether-based substrate with at least two cycloolefin groups per molecule curable by a metathesis reaction with a metathesis catalyst. These compositions may optionally contain a reaction control agent for slowing the progress of the metathesis reaction. The metathesis catalyst can be a ruthenium carbene complex catalyst. The substrate may be, for example, a difunctional urethane polyester or polyether carboxylate containing norbornenyl end groups.

Two-part dental impression material curable by a metathesis reaction comprising a base paste with first and second resin components each containing at least two cycloolefin groups per molecule curable by a metathesis reaction with a metathesis catalyst. The first resin includes a urethane polyether or polyester carboxylate backbone terminated with the cycloolefin groups and the second resin includes an alkoxy-siloxane polyether or polyester carboxylate backbone terminated with the cycloolefin groups. The metathesis catalyst can be a ruthenium carbene complex catalyst.

Polyether-based dental impression material curable by metathesis reaction

The difference in composition permits fine control over the refractive index of the coated particles, allowing good matching tooth enamel and to the binder materials used in the composite.
