A method for controlling the filling of at least one cavity in a device for producing an object, in particular in an injection molding machine, wherein a melt is inserted into the cavity through an opening, and the width thereof is altered, wherein the width of the opening is also to be changed and adjusted, that is, fixed, in a position between a closed position and a maximal open position.

A method for producing multilayer objects from a polymer melt, especially in an injection mold, especially preforms having a barrier layer, wherein a viscosity, especially a shear speed, of the melt is determined. A method for operating a tool shaft with the aid of a sensor element of a sensor, particularly an injection mold, in which at least one sensor, e.g. for determining an internal pressure of the mold, is assigned to the cavity. To this end, the sensor element is placed inside a sleeve with play and is subsequently calibrated, then, after determining the sensitivity, a correspondingly codeable component, e.g. a resistor, is selected, is fitted into the sensor, and the sensor, together with the sleeve, is placed inside a borehole of a mold wall.

Method for operating a tool shaft

A production mold with piezo-transducers and associated signal processing amplifiers located inside it are housed in a tightly sealed, electrically shielded unit. The piezo-transducers are linked by a stranded conductor only insulated, which is cut to length in situ and led inside the shielded unit to a high-insulating terminal of the amplifier. There is no longer any need to use shielded cables between the piezo-transducer and amplifier.

To obtain simultaneous filling of all cavities (K1-K4) in multicavity injection moulds, the mould cavity pressure (p) patterns in all cavities (K1-K4) are detected and the times (t1-t4) measured from the beginning of filling till a suitably chosen reference pressure (pR) is reached for each cavity (K1-K4). By interventions in the individual heating systems of the individual hot runners (5), the temperatures in these are altered to bring the measured times of the individual cavities more in line.

Process for controlling the hot-runner heating of a multicavity

For exactly determining the switchover point when producing plastic injection mouldings, two pressure sensors are arranged successively at intervals in the flow direction of the inflowing material, so that the material reaches them at different points in time, and pressure curves (p.sub.1, p.sub.2) are recorded inside the mould cavity. From the measured pressures, the differential pressure is derived. When passing from volumetric filing to compression, the pressures in the mould cavity (p.sub.1, p.sub.2) undergo an abrupt rise (U1, U2). This is reflected in a steep drop of the differential pressure formed, its gradient experiencing a change of sign (V). This indicates that the switchover point has been reached, at which the filling phase must give way to the holding pressure phase.

Process for determining the switchover point in the production of a die

When producing injection-moulded or die-cast articles the changeover point between a filling program and a subsequent hold pressure program is determined by measuring the pressure inside the mould cavity at regular intervals, and deriving two classification variables (k.sub.0.sup.+, k.sub.0.sup.-, k.sub.-1.sup.+, k.sub.-1.sup.-, k.sub.-2.sup.+, k.sub.-2.sup.-) from each of the last three measured values (p.sub.0, p.sub.-1, p.sub.-2) in classification stages (K.sub.0, K.sub.-1, K.sub.-2) and combining them into weighting variables (g.sup.-, g.sup.0, g.sup.+) in a logic stage (V) using the methods of fuzzy logic. In an evaluation stage (A), by means of evaluation functions a switching value (s) is derived from these and compared with a threshold value in a decision stage (E). If the switching value oversteps the threshold, it is deduced that the changeover point has been reached.

Process for determining the changeover point when producing plastic

A device which is capable of measuring both the viscous injection/casting operation and the shrinkage during the solidification phase, using a suitable measuring device. For this a sensor is fitted in the mould at the critical point expected, with a measuring surface that is flush with the inner wall and is able to measure shear and compressive stresses, so that for the first time the shrinkage phenomenon becomes measurable. With this, a new dimension of quality monitoring becomes possible.
