This application relates to efficient and economical synthetic chemical processes for the preparation of pesticidal thioethers. Further, the present application relates to certain novel compounds useful in the preparation of pesticidal thioethers. Specifically, this application relates to a process for the preparation of 3-chloro-1H-pyrazol-4-amine and salts thereof. More particularly, this application relates to a process for the preparation of 3-chloro-1H-pyrazol-4-amine and salts thereof by halogenating and reducing 4-nitropyrazole.

Processes for the preparation of pesticide compounds

Methods of producing methyl 4-amino-3-chloro-6-(4-chloro-2-fluoro-3-methoxyphenyl)pyridine-2-carboxylate. One method comprises adding methyl isobutyl ketone to an aqueous solution comprising 4-chloro-2-fluoro-3-methoxyphenyl-boronic acid to form an organic phase comprising the 4-chloro-2-fluoro-3-methoxyphenylboronic acid and an aqueous phase. The organic phase and the aqueous phase are separated. The 4-chloro-2-fluoro-3-methoxyphenylboronic acid is reacted with methyl 4-(acetylamino)-3,6-dichloropyridine-2-carboxylate in methyl isobutyl ketone to produce methyl 4-(acetylamino)-3-chloro-6-(4-chloro-2-fluoro-3-methoxyphenyl)pyridine-2-carboxylate, which is deacetylated to produce methyl 4-amino-3-chloro-6-(4-chloro-2-fluoro-3-methoxyphenyl)pyridine-2-carboxylate.

Methods of producing methyl 4-amino-3-chloro-6-(4-chloro-2-fluoro-3-methoxyphenyl)pyridine-2-carboxylate

A process of hydrogenating an aliphatic dialdehyde, preferably, a C-Calicyclic dicarboxaldehyde, to form an aliphatic diol, preferably, a C-Calicyclic diol, most preferably, cis/trans-(1,3)(1,4)-cyclohexanedimethanol. The process involves contacting one or more aliphatic dialdehydes in a liquid phase with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst in a hydrogenation zone and in the presence of water in an amount equal to or greater than 10 weight percent, based on the weight of the total liquid feed to the hydrogenation. The alicyclic dicarboxaldehyde is preferably prepared via hydroformylation of an olefin with subsequent extraction of the alicyclic dicarboxaldehyde product from the hydroformylation product fluid.

Hydrogenation of aliphatic dialdehydes to aliphatic diols

An aldehyde composition derived by hydroformylation of a transesterified seed oil and containing a mixture of formyl-substituted fatty acids or fatty acid esters having the following composition by weight: greater than about 10 to less than about 95 percent monoformyl, greater than about 1 to less than about 65 percent diformyl, and greater than about 0.1 to less than about 10 percent triformyl-substituted fatty acids or fatty acid esters, and having a diformyl to triformyl weight ratio of greater than about 5/1; preferably, greater than about 3 to less than about 20 percent saturates; and preferably, greater than about 1 to less than about 20 percent unsaturates.

Aldehyde compositions derived from seed oils

An aldehyde composition derived by hydroformylation of a transesterified seed oil and containing a mixture of formyl-substituted fatty acids or fatty acid esters having the following composition by weight: greater than about 10 to less than about 95 percent monoformyl, greater than about 1 to less than about 65 percent diformyl, and greater than about 0.1 to less than about 10 percent triformyl-substituted fatty acids or fatty acid esters, and having a diformyl to triformyl weight ratio of greater than about 5/1; preferably, greater than about 3 to less than about 20 percent saturates; and preferably, greater than about 1 to less than about 20 percent unsaturates. An alcohol composition derived by hydrogenation of the aforementioned aldehyde composition, containing a mixture of hydroxymethyl-substituted fatty acids or fatty acid esters having the following composition by weight: greater than about 10 to less than about 95 percent monoalcohol {mono(hydroxymethyl)}, greater than about 1 to less than about 65 percent diol {di(hydroxymethyl)}, greater than about 0.1 to less than about 10 percent triol, tri(hydroxymethyl)-substituted fatty acids or fatty acid esters; preferably greater than about 3 to less than about 35 percent saturates; and preferably, less than about 10 percent unsaturates. The alcohol composition can be converted into an oligomeric polyol for use in the manufacture of polyurethane slab stock flexible foam.
