An unmanned ocean vehicle apparatus having a hull, solar array, hydrofoil, and electric thruster is operable on a surface of a body of water to travel from one point to another with long range capabilities. The unmanned ocean vehicle can further be placed in a more compact configuration, incorporating a mechanism to alternate between operational mode and collapsed storage mode to facilitate physical storage or shipment of the vehicle. Methods are described for optimizing travel and determining favorable movements of the unmanned ocean vehicle by calculating current and predicted conditions at certain waypoints using a combination of a sensor, a computer, and a control system. The physical support of hydrofoils, a drag reducing system, capsize-prevention technique, and a three-dimensional arrangement of solar panels provides efficient power management, optimal route strategy, and sustainability of the vehicle's high speeds in wildly varying ocean conditions.

Method and apparatus for solar powered and navigationally optimized hydrofoil autonomous vessel

Sensor devices, systems, and methods for measuring different components of a flow are provided. A sensing arrangement includes a substrate and first and second sensor arrays on the substrate. The first sensor array sensing elements are distributed to obtain measurement data indicative of a first property of an operating environment, such as a turbulent component of a fluid flow. The second sensor array sensing elements are interspersed amongst the first sensor array and distributed to obtain measurement data indicative of a second property of the operating environment, such as an acoustic component of the fluid flow.

Multi-wavefield flow sensing devices and related methods

Methods of determining movement and devices that can be configured to function as an accelerometer, a gyroscope or a magnetometer and is comprised of a sensing element suspended by acoustic waves, and a measurement system capable of determining the position, or rotation of the sensing element without introducing any residual force on the sensing element. The acoustic suspension of the sensing element provides a virtually friction, and torque free method of constraining the sensing element, but not hindering its ability to sense accelerations, rotations or magnetic fields.
