The disclosed subject matter is directed to an electric lawn machine and method for use. The machine can include a housing and a tool, such as a lawnmower blade. A front pair of drive wheels, rear pair of drive wheels, and a storage surface/wheels can be connected to the housing. The housing can be configured to be placed upon a ground surface in two different positions: a use position in which the front pair of drive wheels and the rear pair of drive wheels contact the ground surface; and, a storage position in which the rear pair of drive wheels and the storage surface/wheel(s) contact the ground surface. A handle can be provided that is moveable between a use position, storage position, and an intermediate position in which the machine can be pulled/pushed around into and out of storage by the handle.

Lawn mower and machine apparatus and method with storage features

A lawnmower and lawnmower cooling system can include a housing configured to contain a motor, a battery assembly, a motor driver, and a controller. The housing can include at least one air inlet located adjacent to the top surface of the deck. The housing can include a driver chamber, a battery chamber, a motor chamber, and at least one air outlet. A fan can be mounted in the housing such that, when the fan operates, air enters the air inlet, flows through the driver chamber away from the top surface of the deck along the upward direction, passes through the motor driver along the upward direction, passes into the battery chamber and flows through the battery pack, passes into the motor chamber and flows through the electric motor, and exits the motor chamber through the at least one air outlet.

Apparatus and method for cooling lawnmower components

The disclosed subject matter is directed to a lawnmower that can include a cutter housing with a first chamber wall defining a first cutting chamber. A first discharge opening can be located in the chamber wall, and the cutter housing can include a slot arrangement. A conversion assembly can include an adjustable wall slidably attached to the cutter housing so as to be selectively movable within the slot arrangement between an opened position and a closed position to place the lawnmower in either a discharge mode or a mulch mode (or somewhere in between).

Cutter housing assembly for a lawnmower and lawnmower having same

Various types of lawnmowers are disclosed that include a cutter housing having a cutting chamber and a discharge opening therein. A driving mechanism can be mounted on the cutter housing, and a radius arm can be mounted on or near the blade spindle such that the radius arm is rotatable about the blade spindle. A shutter gate that is arcuate in shape can be mounted on the radius arm so as to rotate with the radius arm between a discharge arrangement and a mulch arrangement. The shutter gate can include a driven element that is driven by the driving mechanism to cause the shutter gate to rotate between the discharge arrangement where the shutter gate allows for discharge of vegetation through the discharge opening, and the mulch arrangement where the shutter gate blocks the discharge opening.

Cutter housing assembly for a lawnmower, lawnmower having same, and convertible lawnmower

Various types of lawnmowers are disclosed that include a cutter housing having a chamber wall and a discharge opening therein. A mulch gate can be provided with an interior scroll-shaped face and can be pivotably attached to the cutter housing so as to be movable between an opened gate position and a closed position. In the opened position, the mulch gate is positioned such that the discharge opening is opened to an exterior of the lawnmower to allow clippings to pass therethrough and out of the lawnmower. In the closed position the mulch gate closes the discharge opening to provide a mulch mode in which clippings remain in the cutter housing for added cutting by the lawnmower blade. When the mulch gate is in the closed gate position, the interior scroll-shaped face of the mulch gate can be substantially continuous with a wall interior surface of the chamber wall.

According to an embodiment of the disclosed subject matter, a lift assembly for a lawnmower can include a mower housing configured to house blades for cutting vegetation. A frame can be located above the mower housing, the frame including two longitudinal extending frame members, and at least one pivot bar extending between the two longitudinal extending frame members. A linear actuator can be located adjacent the frame members and connected to the pivot bar such that actuation of the linear actuator causes the pivot bar to rotate about a rotational axis of the pivot bar. At least one cam can be connected to the pivot bar so as to rotate with the pivot bar, the cam including a mower housing attachment element that supports the mower housing such that rotation of the cam varies a distance between the frame and the mower housing.

Lift assembly for a lawnmower and lawnmower having same

An anti-rotation apparatus usable with power driven equipment. The power driven equipment may include a deck, a deck bracket connected to the deck, and a handle. The handle may be pivotally mounted to the deck bracket and capable of rotating in a first direction and a second direction opposite the first direction. The anti-rotation pin has a first portion configured to prevent rotation of the handle in the first rotational direction; and a second portion configured to prevent rotation of the handle in a second rotational direction opposite the first rotational direction.

The present subject matter relates to clutch arm and release devices and methods such as for a variable speed transmission. A clutch linkage can include a control shaft pivotable about an axis, a substantially U-shaped arm connected at two points to the shaft, and a plurality of projections positioned on the arm. The arm can be moved between positions in response to rotational movement of the control shaft, and the projections can thereby engage and exert a force on a movable sleeve to move the sleeve, such as for causing a clutch bearing to move between an engaged and a disengaged position.

Two-way action cable control assemblies, systems, and methods are provided. A two-step cable control assembly for a power machine can include a base member pivotably attached to a handle of a power machine and being movable between a disengaged position and an engaged position to actuate a machine component, a hand lever pivotably attached to the handle of the power machine, and a latch pivotably attached to the hand lever and movable into interlocking engagement with a portion of the base member. In this arrangement, the base member can be moved by the hand lever when the latch is interlocked with the base member.

Two-way action cable control assemblies, systems and methods

The present subject matter relates to systems and methods for coupling a fuel tank assembly to a combustion engine in which a cover configured for covering at least a portion of the combustion engine can include a recess configured for receiving a fuel tank therein. The recess can include a receptacle positioned against an inner wall of the cover and configured for receiving a protruding ear of the fuel tank, a first protruding tab extending from the inner wall of the cover at or near the receptacle, and a latch strike extending from the inner wall of the cover at or near the receptacle. A retaining clip with a first retaining portion and a latch arm can be positioned in a blocking position with respect to the receptacle to prevent the protruding ear of the fuel tank from being removed from the receptacle.

Small engine fuel tank systems and mounting methods

A combination grass discharge and mulch plug insert apparatus and method are provided where the insert can include a first end configured for communication with a discharge opening of a lawnmower and a second end also configured for communication with the discharge opening. The first end can be configured for preventing discharge of grass clippings from the lawnmower, whereas the second end can be configured for allowing discharge of grass clippings through the second end. Further, the insert can be reversible such that it can be oriented in either a first position in which the first end is inserted into the discharge opening or a second position in which the second end is attached to the discharge opening. As a result, the lawnmower can be easily converted between mulching and side- or rear-discharge modes of operation.

Combination grass discharge and mulch plug insert apparatus and method for a lawnmower

A chute control assembly and related methods for mounting a motor to a snowblower are disclosed, wherein the motor is capable of being operated to rotate the chute of the snowblower. The motor and a chute bottom holding bracket can be preassembled so that the assembly can then be slipped over the chute gear for final assembly. The motor can receive electrical impulses from the movement of a standard control handle mounted on the snowblower. The electrical impulses can cause the motor to rotate a worm gear or pinion in either direction depending on the movement of the handle. The worm gear or pinion can rotate a gear chute in an appropriate direction, thereby rotating the chute of the snowblower.

A vehicle tailgate and bed arrangement is disclosed. The tailgate is movable over a range of motion between an open and a closed position. The vehicle bed surface has a rear edge and the tailgate includes a convexly arced surface defining a gap with the rear edge. The convexly arced surface maintains the gap at a substantially constant width along the entire range of motion of the tailgate. The constant gap width prevents any debris from collecting in the gap between the tailgate and the bed.
