This invention relates to a mechanism for use in a device that comprises a system for collecting dirt and debris from a variety of floor and upholstery surfaces. In particular the mechanism lifts and directs unwanted debris particles to a waste reservoir for the purpose of cleaning and grooming floor surfaces. The debris collection mechanism can be, but is not limited to its use in a handle operated cordless motorized floor sweeper to collect and gather unwanted debris and dust. The device includes a head unit that incorporates two easily removable elongate cylindrical rotating cleaning bars that are driven such that they contra rotate, and are positioned close to one another at the forward region of the head unit. A removable debris reservoir, removable rechargeable power source and handle incorporating a device operation switch are also included.

Surface debris removal apparatus

A motor-driven endless absorbent belt on an apparatus may be used for scrubbing or polishing surfaces, or removing liquid from surfaces. The belt is located about a cleaning head demountable from a housing for replacement of the belt, a roller mounted to the head and cooperating with a roller mounted to the housing to squeeze liquid and contaminants from the belt into a first reservoir in the housing. A driven roller mounted on the removable cleaning head preferably encloses a rotary motor, the belt being pinched between the driven roller and the housing-mounted roller.

Cleaning apparatus with motorised endless belt

A power handle module encloses rechargeable batteries which can be used to power a number of modular special-purpose tools which may be mounted to the power handle module. The power handle module includes a hand grip, a trigger switch operated by a trigger and a first connector for engagement with a second connector on the special-purpose tool. An interlock operator on the handle module may be moved between a guard position where it resists pressure to move the trigger and at least one armed position, in which position it allows the trigger to be pressed. A secondary switch is mounted within the power handle module. When the special-purpose tool is a fastener driver the secondary switch controls direction of rotation of the motor on the tool. The fastener-driving tool includes a link for mechanically joining the secondary switch and the interlock operator upon connection of the first and second connectors such that by moving the interlock operator between the first and second armed positions the secondary switch is moved between switch positions. When the special-purpose tool is a saw the secondary switch provides a safety interlock switch preventing inadvertent rotation of the motor on the tool. The saw tool includes an engagement face that engages the secondary switch upon connection of the first and second connectors to move the secondary switch to one of the switch positions and resilient means for biasing the interlock operator to the guard position.

Modular power hand tool

A portable toolbox has a compartment closed by a lid, the lid being configured to mount a powered saw module to an inner face thereof such that the saw blade extends from an outer side of the lid which provides a flat sawbench. The toolbox is used with powered hand tools of the type having a power handle module incorporating rechargeable batteries and control switch for engaging a variety of multi-purpose tools having respective electric motors. A battery station receives the power handle module and an associated circuit controls and supplies power to the saw. An adaptor fixture may be employed in one configuration to provide a drill press and in another to provide a saw fence. The adaptor fixture includes a sliding carriage for mounting a powered hand drill and jaws for clamping engagement with the toolbox when used as a fence.
