An assembly and method for using weather sensors with enhanced modular capability is disclosed. The weather sensor assembly generally comprises a cap module, middle module, and a base module, where the cap module, middle module(s) and the base module are stacked adjacently to provide environmental sealing, weather sensing, and electrical connectivity to the weather sensor assembly. One or more ring mechanisms may be included that interlock the cap module, middle module(s), base module to form the weather sensor assembly into an integrated unit. Moreover, the ring mechanisms enable further modules to be added to the weather sensor assembly for additional capabilities. By doing so, each of the modules in the weather sensor assembly may be independent units that can be removed, reordered, swapped, and added for desired sensing modalities and environments.

Modular weather sensing system and method

Systems and methods for accurate measurement and transmission of water level parameters during weather events, such as floods, are provided. The solid-state system can effectively measure water level without utilizing moving parts, pumps, or floats and may implement an improved water level determination method that compensates for inherent sources of error. Additionally, the system may be comprised of a network of sensor units that can communicate weather measurements wirelessly via a hybrid mesh network consisting variously of wireless terrestrial radio, cellular, and satellite communication links. By doing so, the status of water level and other environmental parameters may be reported in real time to first responders and emergency planners.

Meteorological sensing systems and methods

An assembly and method for using ultrasonic wind sensors and their assembly with solar cell technology is disclosed. The weather sensor assembly may include a sensor module with a top sensor and a bottom sensor, where the top sensor and the bottom sensor are separated by a gap to allow air to flow through unobstructed. By including an unobstructed gap in the sensor module structure, ultrasonic signals communicated by the ultrasonic wind sensors to obtain wind measurements are less subject to comprise from signal interference, thereby improving accuracy. Additionally, one or more power modules may be included that provide power storage and power generation capabilities, which are then placed beneath the sensor module. By doing so, multiple power modules can be stacked vertically on top of one another to ensure that ultrasonic wind sensors, which typically require high power, are powered more efficiently.

A system and apparatus for navigating and tracking a robotic platform includes a non-contact velocity sensor module set positioned on the robotic platform for measuring a velocity of the robotic platform relative to a target surface. The non-contact velocity sensor module set may include a coherent light source that is emitted towards the target surface and reflected back to the coherent light source. Measuring the change in intensity of the reflected coherent light source may be used to determine the velocity of the robotic platform based on the its relationship with the principles of a Doppler frequency shift. A communication unit may also be utilized to transmit data collected from the non-contact velocity sensor set to a computer for data processing. A computer is then provided on the robotic platform to process data collected from the non-contact velocity sensor set. A user may then monitor the determined trajectory path of the robotic platform and transmit navigation instructions to the robotic platform based on the received trajectory path data.

Profilometers for industrial metrology and other applications are described. A line is projected on a surface to be profiled. The line is scanned to build a three dimensional point cloud allowing the three-dimensional (3D) profile of the surface to be determined. In some embodiments, the line is projected by a laser system. In other embodiments, the line is projected by a digital micromirror device (DMD). In still further embodiments, multiple lines, or other patterns are projected.
