Economical and improved pull apart fragrance sampling device constructed of a film to film laminate. The mechanism for release of fragrance is accomplished by providing a microcapsule layer between a top ply and a bottom ply, which upon drying holds the overlying plies together, the microcapsules rupture upon peeling the top ply from the bottom ply, the fragrance is thereby released. A sampler produced as disclosed provides greater stability and shelf life than a paper sampler product while dramatically reducing manufacturing and raw material costs due to it's construction. The sampler provides the maximum flexibility in use and manufacture at a minimum cost.

Pull apart fragrance sampler

A product sampler including a substrate layer, a barrier layer covering the substrate layer, a gelatinoid product layer covering and in contact with the barrier layer, and a barrier layer covering and in contact with the product layer is provided. The gelatinoid product layer may include a microencapsulated product, such as a fragrance. In preferred embodiments of the invention, the gelatinoid product layer includes a microencapsulated fragrance carried in a gelatinoid liquid vehicle, which vehicle may comprise, for example, propylene glycol, polyethylene glycols, glycerin, or mixtures thereof. In a highly preferred embodiment of the invention, the product sampler is in the form of a magazine insert having a protruding trimmable non-barrier substrate tab portion, whereby a user may remove a trim portion from the trimmable edge portion after binding the insert into a magazine without removing barrier material with the removed trim portion. A process for the in-line, high speed manufacturing of magnetic products is disclosed. The process comprises the steps of printing onto a substrate, drying the ink print, making the appropriate cuts or scores on the substrate, applying a slurry of magnetizable material onto the substrate to create the magnet, drying the applied material, magnetizing the magnetic material and cutting and forming the substrate to the desired dimensions. Each of these steps may be performed in a single, in-line manufacturing operation running at high speeds.

A cosmetic sampler has a thin dry layer of powder particles which are fragrance enhanced by fragrance containing microcapsules. The fragrance powder and microcapsules are applied as a production state, in a mass produced printed sampler manufacturing process from a liquid slurry which dries rapidly. The individual powder particles on the finished sampler item are raedily removed from the web surface by light finger pressure as a free flowing powder and the microcapsules are simultaneously ruptured to produce the desired fragrance.

A sample packet for creams and the like comprises a sheet having a coating for preventing absorption of a cream and further including a score line for defining first and second panels. A continuous line of adhesive is applied to one of the panels. The second panel is folded into overlying relation with the first panel and is secured thereto by the adhesive, the panels cooperate with the adhesive for defining a reservoir. The second panel includes a frangible pull tab overlying the reservoir, the frangible pull tab adapted for being severed from the second panel for thereby causing the reservoir to be opened.
