A differential drive for manipulating an elongated device includes a drive mechanism configured to provide rotational and linear movement to the elongated percutaneous device. The drive mechanism including a platform rotatably supported by a support and a linear drive operatively coupled to the platform. A first motor operatively rotates the platform relative to the support and moving a portion of the linear drive relative to the platform. A second motor operatively rotates the platform relative to the support and moving a portion of the linear drive relative to the platform.

Differential drive

A catheter procedure system includes a bedside system having a guide wire, a guide wire advance/retract actuator coupled to the guide wire and a guide wire rotate actuator coupled to the guide wire and a workstation coupled to the bedside system. The workstation includes a user interface, at least one display and a controller coupled to the bedside system, the user interface and the at least one display. The controller is programmed to advance the guide wire through a path using the guide wire advance/retract actuator, wherein the guide wire is rotated a predetermined amount.

System and method for navigating a guide wire

A robotic catheter system including a first drive mechanism configured to interact with an elongated medical device to cause the elongated medical device to move along its longitudinal axis. A controller provides a signal to a motor to move the first wiping surface toward the longitudinal axis when the elongated device is being withdrawn from a patient.

A method for navigating a guide wire during a catheter procedure, the method includes changing the direction of a distal portion of the guide wire to advance past a junction in a desired path by rotating a proximal end of the guide wire a predetermined amount while the guide wire is being retracted to a point before the junction and then advancing the distal end of the guide wire past the junction through the desired path.

An apparatus includes a hemostasis valve; a base having a clamp releasably coupling a catheter to the base; a base drive member moving the base relative to the hemostasis valve along a first path; and a mechanism maintaining the position of an elongated medical device relative to the hemostasis valve while the catheter is being moved along the first path.

Percutaneous device exchange

Assemblies, devices and methods are provided for suture management associated with surgical procedures for anchoring suture to bone. Suture elements mounted to suture anchors are terminated in suture loops or tags, and associated stop members that in combination with visual coding provide suture identification, prevent accidental unmounting of suture from suture anchors, and reduce the number of suture legs requiring active management during complex arthroscopic repairs. The present invention also provides exemplary drivers that can be used with the various methods and devices disclosed herein, or with other methods and devices known in the art.

Suture management system

A catheter procedure system includes a bedside system having a guide wire, a guide wire advance/retract actuator coupled to the guide wire and a guide wire rotate actuator coupled to the guide wire and a workstation coupled to the bedside system. The workstation includes a user interface, at least one display and a controller coupled to the bedside system, the user interface and the at least one display. The controller is programmed to advance the guide wire through a path using the guide wire advance/retract actuator, determine if the guide wire is in a desired path based at least on at least one image of a region of interest, rotate the guide wire using the guide wire rotate actuator if the guide wire is not in the desired path, wherein the guide wire is rotated a predetermined amount, and retract the guide wire using the guide wire advance/retract actuator. The steps of advancing the guide wire and retracting and rotating the guide wire using guide wire advance/retract actuator and the guide wire rotate actuator are repeated until the guide wire is in the desired path. The guide wire is advanced to a desired position using the guide wire advance/retract actuator.

A robotic catheter system includes a drive mechanism comprising a drive which interacts with a catheter device to cause the catheter device to move along its axis. An encoder assembly detects the motion of the catheter device by a magnetic interaction with the catheter device.

Catheter system with magnetic coupling

An elongated medical device with a modified drive surface for use with a drive mechanism of a robotic system includes an elongate body having a distal portion configured to navigate the lumen of a human body channel and a proximate portion having a surface different from that of the distal portion and adapted to better interact with the driving mechanism than the surface of the distal portion. The surface of the proximate portion may include at least one of an optical or a magnetic marker.

Guide wire or working catheter with modified drive surface

An elongated medical device with a modified drive surface for use with the driving mechanism of a robotic system. The elongated medical device has a distal portion configured to navigate the lumen of a human body channel and a proximate portion with a surface different from that of the distal portion and adapted to better interact with the driving mechanism than the surface of the distal portion.

A pressure isolation mechanism for use in a medical procedure includes a lumen, an isolation port in fluid connection with lumen, and a valve having a first state and a second state. The first state occurs when the lumen and the isolation port are connected. The second state occurs when the lumen and the isolation port are disconnected. The lumen remains open for flow of fluid therethrough in the first state and in the second state. The valve is normally in the first state and is switchable to the second state when fluid pressure in the lumen reaches a predetermined pressure level. A pressure transducer can be in fluid connection with the isolation port of the pressure isolation mechanism A fluid delivery system includes a manually operated syringe and a pressure isolation mechanism as described above.

A drive mechanism for a robotic catheter system including a first engagement surface and a second engagement surface is provided. The first engagement surface and second engagement surface are configured to engage a catheter device to allow the drive mechanism to impart motion to the catheter device. The first engagement surface is textured to facilitate gripping between the first engagement surface and the catheter device.
