Systems and methods are provided for interrogating a moving acoustic source using radar and processing data using a selection of motion compensation techniques adapted from synthetic aperture radar (SAR) to remove the effects of linear and nonlinear target motion so that the range-Doppler map retains only vibration information in the Doppler dimension. Vibration and sound waveforms can thus be selectively reproduced at specific ranges directly from the radar baseband waveform, without the need for additional complex analysis or audio processing.

Systems and methods are provided for adapting automotive mmW radar technology to meet the requirements of autonomous unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems. Embodiments of the present disclosure provide solutions for several design challenges from this adaptation, such as utilizing a limited number of antenna channels to scan in both azimuth and elevation.

Systems and method are provided for canceling unwanted transmitter-to-receiver leakage in a coherent wireless system using a feedforward waveform that overcomes the limitations of purely analog or purely digital cancelation systems and methods. Systems and methods in accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure generate a software-defined waveform that, when fed forward into the receiver, effectively cancels the leakage. Embodiments of the present disclosure can use a defined cancelation waveform (e.g., a software-defined cancelation waveform) that can cancel multiple leakage paths at the same time.

Adaptive signal suppression using a feedforward waveform

Systems and method are provided for three-dimensional (3D) imaging by using Doppler and interferometric processing techniques for general planar phased arrays. Systems and methods according to embodiments of the present disclosure incorporate motion compensation techniques in a way that utilizes the full aperture of a phase array. Embodiments of the present disclosure can be applied to a variety of different radar imaging modalities, including X-band and millimeter wave (MMW) regimes.

Millimeter-wave airborne radar for 3-Dimensional imaging of moving and stationary targets

Systems and methods are provided for autonomous airborne vehicle control using a millimeter-wave (MMW) radar. Embodiments of the present disclosure enable a MMW radar system to support an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in accomplishing missions involving interacting with peers. In an embodiment, a MMW radar module of a UAV in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure enables the UAV to take a measurement (e.g., regarding the location of another UAV) using the MMW radar, classify a return (e.g., a MMW radar return), determine whether the detected object is a peer, and update the vehicle velocity accordingly.

Systems, devices, and methods are provided for mixed-mode signal processing that achieves unprecedented levels of out-of-band and in-band interference suppression. Embodiments of the present disclosure mitigate the effects of blockers and jammers, which have surfaced as issues in emerging cognitive radio systems as those networks struggle to co-exist with licensed and unlicensed users.

Blocker-resilient broadband wireless transceivers with multi-user collision tolerance based on mixed-mode correlation

Systems and method are provided for using millimeter-wave radar for terrain-aided navigation in support of autonomous guidance, landing, and mapping functions in all weather for unmanned air vehicles (UAVs). In an embodiment, a UAV can generate a map, based on millimeter-wave (MMW) radar returns, that rejects a large number of radar measurements as clutter and generates a flight path using waypoints based on the map. Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a means of correlating MMW radar returns with high resolution terrain maps to enable navigation in GPS-denied environments. This process significantly reduces cost, development time, and complexity when compared to conventional approaches.

A variable bandwidth filter is described herein, wherein a bandwidth of a passband of the variable bandwidth filter is dynamically tunable. The variable bandwidth tuner is implemented on a CMOS chip, and acts to filter analog signals. The variable bandwidth filter comprises a plurality of finite impulse response (FIR) filters, wherein each FIR filter comprises a plurality of tunable transconductors. The tunable transconductors are tunable in their gain.

Described herein is a power-efficient Gm-C filter, wherein the Gm-C filter includes several operational transconductance amplifiers (OTAs). In an example, at least two of the OTAs share a common bias current. Further, output of one of the OTAs is used to bias another one of the OTAs. Also described herein is a power-efficient clock generator circuit that is configured to output non-overlapping clock signals. The clock generator circuit includes a ring oscillator circuit, which includes several inverter stages. The clock generator circuit is well-suited for controlling operation of switches.

Gm-C filter and multi-phase clock circuit

Various technologies presented herein relate to forming one or more heat dissipating structures (e.g., heat spreaders and/or heat sinks) on a substrate, wherein the substrate forms part of an electronic component. The heat dissipating structures are formed from graphene, with advantage being taken of the high thermal conductivity of graphene. The graphene (e.g., in flake form) is attached to a diazonium molecule, and further, the diazonium molecule is utilized to attach the graphene to material forming the substrate. A surface of the substrate is treated to comprise oxide-containing regions and also oxide-free regions having underlying silicon exposed. The diazonium molecule attaches to the oxide-free regions, wherein the diazonium molecule bonds (e.g., covalently) to the exposed silicon. Attachment of the diazonium plus graphene molecule is optionally repeated to enable formation of a heat dissipating structure of a required height.

The various technologies presented herein relate to isolating an integrated circuit from electromagnetic radiation/interference. The integrated circuit can be encapsulated in a coating (e.g., a conformal coating). A conductive layer can be formed over the coating, where the conductive layer is deposited to connect with an electromagnetic shielding layer included in a substrate upon which the integrated circuit is located thereby forming a Faraday cage around the integrated circuit. Hollow spheres can be included in the coating to improve the dielectric constant of the coating. The conductive layer can be formed from at least one of metallic material or a polymer coating which includes conductive material. The integrated circuit can be utilized in conjunction with a heat sink and further, the integrated circuit can be of a flip chip configuration.

Electromagnetic isolation structure

Described herein are various technologies relating to processing a coherent signal. A receiver is configured to receive an analog signal, and process the analog signal to generate an input analog signal. The input analog signal has been modulated according to a suitable modulation sequence. A coherent signal sampler coherently samples the modulation sequence, and the result of such sampling is in turn used to demodulate the input analog signal. The resultant signal is then passed to a sigma delta modulator, where it is converted to digital form.

A combined radar and telemetry system is described. The combined radar and telemetry system includes a processing unit that executes instructions, where the instructions define a radar waveform and a telemetry waveform. The processor outputs a digital baseband signal based upon the instructions, where the digital baseband signal is based upon the radar waveform and the telemetry waveform. A radar and telemetry circuit transmits, simultaneously, a radar signal and telemetry signal based upon the digital baseband signal.
