This disclosure describes a remote patient monitoring system configured to monitor one or more patient parameters via one or more monitoring apparatuses for transmitting patient data to a remote, central data-processing facility via a network. The system further includes an interactive voice recognition ('IVR') system and mobile interfaces for health data collection and transmission via direction communication with the patient. According to embodiments, with the information received from the patient monitoring system, one or more scored indicative of a patient's health status is calculated. The scores are compared to threshold values and, based on the comparisons, further action is taken. For example, a medical caregiver can evaluate the patient's condition, including the effectiveness of the drug therapy, patient compliance, whether the patient's condition is improving, whether the patient requires hospitalization or an office consultation to prevent the condition from getting worse, etc. Enabling medical caregivers to remotely monitor and manage a patient's condition may reduce hospitalizations by early identification of health issues.

In general, this disclosure describes techniques for remotely monitoring the health of an ambulatory patient. As described herein, an ambulatory patient may interact with a monitoring device that is located at the patient's home. The monitoring device may ask the patient to provide responses to health-related questions or requests for physiological characteristics and may upload the responses. A health care professional may then use the responses to evaluate the health of the patient. A set of firmware instructions stored on the monitoring device may cause the monitoring device to perform these functions. The monitoring device may download a prompt that is associated with at least one instruction in the set of firmware instructions. The prompt may cause the patient monitoring device to execute the at least one instruction in the set of firmware instructions to gather information relating to a patient.

Method and systems for accessing and providing protected content are disclosed herein. An example system includes a client configured to access a third-party application to receive at least one piece of content associated with a first identifier; wherein the client comprises a token generator configured to generate a token requesting the at least one piece of content, the token comprising at least one private encryption key and the first identifier. The system further includes an embedded module system comprising a database of content, the content separated into a plurality of modules, the embedded module system configured to receive the token and decrypt the at least one private encryption key. The embedded module system may further authorize the client by comparing the first identifier with a second identifier stored in the database.

A personal emergency device is provided to individuals to allow the individuals to request emergency assistances. The device communicates with a base receiver to indicate the individual has requested assistances. The base receiver then communicates with an emergency system such as e-911 emergency services or a remote care system. The base receiver or the remote care system may forward information to the emergency services to provide first responders with additional information regarding the individual. The information may include personal information such as age and name, and the information may include medical information such as a recent blood pressure, weight, and blood glucose level.
