Disclosed is a method, system, and program for implementing priority inheritance in an operating system. A first list includes a boost request to boost a priority of an indicated thread holding a shared resource to an indicated priority. Further included is a second list. The system processes the boost request in the first list to boost the priority of the indicated thread to the indicated priority. After boosting priority, the system removes the processed boost request from the first list and places the processed boost request in the second list.

Disclosed is a method, system, program, and data structure for generating raster objects. A plurality of input contone and line work objects are received containing contone or line work data for at least one pixel on a sheet. For each input contone object, at least one output contone object is generated including color data for each pixel in the input contone object. For each input line work object, at least one output line work object is generated including color data for each pixel in the input print data object. Control data is generated for each pixel indicating whether to select data from the output line work object or output contone object for the pixel, wherein the control data is used by logic to select color data from the output line work object or output contone object for pixel data to send to an output device to render the pixel data.

Method, system, program, and data structure for generating raster objects

A system, method and program for merging objects for raster presentation are described. In response to receipt of an input data set including a plurality of objects intended for raster presentation, the system divides the data set into a plurality of scan regions and determines if a predetermined number of objects per scan line set is exceeded by the plurality of objects. In response to a determination that the predetermined number of objects per set of scan lines is exceeded, the system merges only a portion of a first object among the plurality of objects with at least a portion of a second object among the plurality of objects, where the portion of the first object and the portion of the second object are defined by a particular scan region among the plurality of scan regions.

An method and apparatus for error checking. A known test pattern is written into a predetermined byte of a scan line. The method may include generating a known test pattern in a byte of a scan line and transmitting the scan line data through a first data path. The scan line data at the end of the first data path may be evaluated to determine if the test pattern is still in the predetermined byte of the scan line. If the pattern in the predetermined byte is correct, the test pattern may be removed from the predetermined byte and the scan line data may be transmitted to a print engine. If the pattern in the predetermined byte is incorrect, then a signal may be sent to terminate the transmission of the scan line data.
