A blade according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a radially inner dovetail supporting a radially outer airfoil; and the dovetail having a radial thickness which is less in a circumferentially center portion of the dovetail than circumferentially opposing outer edges.

A turbojet fan blade adapted for securement to an engine rotor includes a titanium sheath that extends continuously over its leading edge from blade tip to blade root. The sheath provides impact protection over the leading edge of the blade, and also incorporates enhanced radial securement of the sheath to the rotor. As such, a radial lock system for the sheath is disclosed that includes a fully integrated sheath portion that extends completely over the frontal face of a fan blade dovetail, providing a radial lock of the sheath to the rotor in the event of failure of any adhesive used to attach the sheath to the leading edge. Because the sheath extends continuously from blade tip to the blade root, lightning strike protection is enhanced by avoidance of any discontinuities otherwise associated with related art sheaths that typically extend over only a flow path portion of the leading edge.

A blade has an airfoil extending radially outwardly of a dovetail. The dovetail has edges that will be at circumferential sides of the blade when the blade is mounted within a rotor. A bottom surface of the dovetail will be radially inward when the rotor blade is mounted in a rotor, and is formed such that a circumferentially central portion of the bottom surface is radially thicker than are circumferential edges. A fan and a gas turbine engine are also described.

A fan blade includes a root including a front surface, a rear surface, a first side surface connected to the front surface and the rear surface, and a second side surface connected to the front surface and the rear surface. The front surface engages the first side surface and the second side surface by one or more blunted surfaces, and the rear surface engages the first side surface and the second side surface by one or more blunted surfaces. A blade extends from the root.

A fan blade has a main body extending between a leading edge and a trailing edge. Channels are formed into the main body from at least one open side. A plurality of ribs extend across the main body intermediate the channels. The fan blade has a dovetail, and an airfoil extending radially outwardly from the dovetail. The channels have a termination end adjacent a radially inner end of the ribs. The termination end is formed along a complex fillet with a first radius of curvature formed at the termination end, and a second radius of curvature merging into sides of the ribs. The second radius of curvature is greater than the first radius of curvature.

A plurality of ribs extend across the main body intermediate the channels. The fan blade has a dovetail, and an airfoil extends radially outwardly from the dovetail. The ribs having a thickness defined as measured from said leading edge toward said trailing edge. The ribs have break-edges at ends of the thickness that extend away from an outer face of the rib.

A fan blade has a main body extending between a leading edge and a trailing edge. Channels are formed into the main body from an open side extending toward an opposed closed side. A plurality of ribs extending across the main body intermediate the channels, the fan blade has a dovetail, and an airfoil extending radially outwardly from said dovetail. A bottom surface of the channels is defined at the closed side of the channels. Sides of the channel merge into sides of the ribs, with a compound fillet at the bottom surface. A first radius of curvature is used along the bottom, and merging into at least a second radius of curvature at the sides. The first radius of curvature is larger than the second radius of curvature.
