A tubing set for a blood processing system includes a first connector, a first tube, and a second tube. The first connector is configured to connect to a separation device within the blood processing system, and has a first inlet configured to be fluidly connected to an outlet of the separation device. The first connector also has an outlet and a second inlet. The first tube fluidly connects to the outlet and fluidly connects the separation device and a blood component storage container. The second tube is fluidly connected to the second inlet and fluidly connects the separation device and a saline storage container. The second tube may include a second connector that connects to the saline storage container.

A top for a plasma storage container includes a top body that defines the structure of the top and seals an opening of the plasma storage container. The top also includes a first opening and a vent opening extending through the top body. A valve mechanism is located at least partially within the top body and includes an aperture therethrough. The aperture opens upon connection of a blunt cannula to provide access to the interior of the plasma storage container. The top also includes a vent filter. The vent filter allows air to vent through the vent opening during plasma collection.

A top for a plasma storage container includes a top body that defines the structure of the top and seals an opening of the plasma storage container. The top also includes a first opening and a vent opening extending through the top body. A septum is located at least partially within the first opening and includes an aperture therethrough. The septum allows a blunt cannula to pass through the aperture to access the interior of the plasma storage container. The top also includes a hydrophobic membrane located on underside of the top body. The membrane covers the vent opening and allows air to vent through the vent opening during plasma collection.

A treatment system for performing a treatment on a patient may include a treatment fluid preparation device having a pump connected by a fluid channel to a reservoir of a source fluid, the pump conveying the source fluid from the reservoir, through a filter, and combining the source fluid with a concentrate by pumping the source fluid with the concentrate to form a treatment fluid in a batch container. The treatment fluid preparation device may have a controller that controls a heater, the pump, and a memory. The controller starts the heater to warm the treatment fluid in the batch container at a time that is responsive to the treatment time stored in the memory. The controller also detects a pressure property of the filter to determine its integrity and outputs an indication of a failed batch if the pressure property indicates the integrity of the filter is insufficient.

Filtration system for preparation of fluids for medical applications

A fluid preparation system has a sealed sterilized fluid circuit with a sealed sterilized container with a conductivity sensor in communication with an interior of said container. Further, at least one sealed connector is adapted for adding fluid to said container, and at least one sealed connector is adapted for removing fluid from said container. The conductivity sensor is contained in a test line in communication with said interior and is adapted to be connected to a source of suction thereby to draw a sample of contents of said container. Furthermore, the test line may have a check valve to prevent ingress of contaminants into said container, and the sealed connector is adapted for adding fluid to said container and may have an inline sterile filter. Furthermore, the system may have a controller that controls pumping actuators.

Systems, methods, and devices for preparation of water for various uses including blood treatment are described. In embodiments, fluid is passed through a first filtration step which is effective for creating purified water and a pair of ultrafilters placed at the outlet. The ultrafilters are separated by an intervening flow path to prevent grow-through from the outlet end upstream. In embodiments, a recirculation path with an air removing filter helps to eliminate air from the ultimate product water.

A method for securing an RFID tag to an object includes providing an RFID tag and placing the RFID tag on the object. The RFID tag has an RFID chip and an antenna electrically connected to the RFID chip. The RFID tag also has a first and second opening extending through the RFID tag. The object has a first and second protrusion extending from a surface of the object. The first and second protrusions extend through the first and second openings when the RFID tag is placed on the object. The method also includes melting the first and second protrusions to create a single integral boss that covers at least a portion of the RFID tag and secures the RFID tag to the object. The chip may be nonfunctional prior to the securement process.

Systems, methods, and devices for preparation of water for various uses including blood treatment are described. In embodiments, fluid is passed either by pump or passively by gravity feed, through various filtration elements from a fluid source to a treatment fluid container. The latter forms a batch that may be used during treatment. Methods and systems for creating multiple-treatment batches are described. Advantages of creating a multitreatment batch include the fact that the burden of treatment preparation can be reduced and the timing of the preparation of the batch can be independent of the treatment time. As described, there are various trade-offs and concerns with this approach which are addressed by the inventive embodiments.

A frangible RFID tag includes a substrate having at least one weakened area, an RFID chip and an antenna. The RFID chip and the antenna are located on the substrate and the antenna is electrically connected to the RFID chip. The RFID tag also includes a plurality of adhesive areas applied to the underside of the substrate. The adhesive areas allow the RFID tag to be secured to an object. The adhesive areas may be spaced from one another to form at least one gap between the adhesive areas. The gap(s) may be located under the at least one weakened area.

Frangible RFID tag and method of producing same

A flow reversing device for performing blood treatment can include a flow reversing actuator. The flow reversing actuator can receive and engage a disposable tubing set with multiple branches that form forward and reverse blood flow paths respectively when blood the flow reversing actuator is selectively changed between forward and reverse configurations. The shape of the tubing can be such that during forward operation, dead regions of non-flowing blood are defined. The flow reversing actuator can have a controller configured to operate generally in forward mode. At first times, the controller can cause the flow reversing actuator to clear the dead regions. At second times, the controller can cause the flow reversing actuator to test for leaks by reversing the flow of blood for a period of time sufficient to cause air to be drawn into the tubing set and conveyed to an air sensor.

Mechanisms for preparing pure water for infusion or medicaments are described such as elimination of chlorine and colloidal aluminum. Also various control mechanisms to help avoid contamination are describe.
