Dynamic configuration and reconfiguration of Voice Control Assistants (VCAs) for Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) devices is provided via a Graphical User Interface (GUI). GUI is presented to provide a list of one or more voice control assistants (VCAs) supported by a CPE device. A selection of a VCA is received from the list of the one or more VCAs presented by the GUI. A configuration interface for the VCA selected from the list of the one or more VCAs from the list of the one or more VCAs is presented on the GUI. Configuration input on the configuration interface of the GUI is received to generate configuration data for the VCA selected from the list of the one or more VCAs. The configuration data is provided to the CPE for implementing the VCA selected from the list of the one or more VCAs according to the configuration data.

Voice control configuration using a graphical user interface

A system and method for controlling media systems identified as co-located with one or more voice-command responsive devices. The disclosed technology is responsive to predetermined activation and/or deactivation phrases so as to control the audio output of the identified media systems and provide an improved sonic environment for a voice command to be properly received and interpreted by the voice-command responsive device(s). The activation phrase for the disclosed system and method can be the same one utilized by the co-located voice-command responsive devices, thereby providing a user with an intuitive and substantially immediate means of improving the sonic environment prior to issuing one or more voice commands.

System and method for controlling a media device to provide an improved sonic environment for the reception of a voice command

A system and method are provided for an AV device for use with a video player, one or more speakers, and encoded AV data. The encoded AV data includes multiplexed encoded video data and encoded audio data. The AV device is connected to the speakers via wireless channels. The AV device is able to determine channel delays associated with each wireless channel; synchronize program clocks of the video player and speakers; determine and modify buffer levels of each speaker; demultiplex the encoded AV data to obtain encode video data and encoded audio data; and provide prefetched portions of encoded audio data based on buffer levels.

A method, system, and computer program product for providing transfer and configuration of web conferencing between consumer devices includes a processor to parse one or more electronic communications on one or more computing devices associated with a user to identify web conference data. The processor may extract the web conference data in the one or more electronic communications and transmit the web conference data and the user credential data to a media device. The media device may be a smart media device and/or a digital television. The process may further receive one or more web conference user preferences and/or user credential data and transmit the one or more web conference user preferences and/or the user credential data to the media device. The processor may display the web conference on the media device according to the one or more web conference user preferences.

Providing transfer and configuration of web conferencing between consumer devices

A system and method for the management of multiple digital assistants enabling the collection and analysis of voice commands and the selective instruction of the digital assistant having the most appropriate capability and/or connectivity to respond to the analyzed voice command. In a preferred embodiment the digital assistants are networked via a DAC. The controller serves to as a central node programmed to recognize the voice commands received by networked digital assistants and determine which assistant or assistants are best qualified to respond. This determination is a function of the command type, as well as the location and capabilities of each digital assistant. In addition, the system and method enhance the utility of the digital assistants, enabling a voice command received by a particular digital assistant to be acted upon by one or more digital assistants located outside of the audible range of the spoken voice command.

A local area network (LAN) device pairs with an interne of things (IoT) device via a wireless mesh network and receives a status of the IoT device via the wireless mesh network. The LAN device stores the received IoT status with an IoT device identifier of the IoT device in an IoT device table in memory and detects a shutdown signal to power down the LAN device. Upon detecting the shutdown signal, the LAN device retrieves the IoT device status from an IoT device database in memory and sends the IoT device status to a display device. Software components may be dynamically loaded into volatile memory of a customer premise equipment (CPE) device from a download server or non-volatile memory of the CPE device when an interaction with the CPE device creates a request for the software components. The CPE device may be configured to dynamically unload software components from volatile memory to create space for an incoming software component. The CPE device may identify one or more software components to be removed from volatile memory based upon a calculated probability to unload value for the software components within volatile memory, wherein the probability to unload value for each of the software components is calculated based upon one or more criteria associated with each software component.

The method includes storing, in response to a user request, at least one content file that includes first and second program segments that are spliced to form a single program. At least one index file is created and stored. The file index includes program specific information associated with the first and second program segments. The index file also includes an identification of a splice point denoting a transition between the first and second program segments. In addition, a splice index is created and stored. The splice index includes timing information specifying a time at which the splice point occurs.

A method and apparatus for streaming multimedia data over a network is provided. A playlist file for a selected multimedia presentation is downloaded by a client device over the network from a streaming server using a transfer protocol. The playlist file provides a list of URIs for media files each providing compressed video data corresponding to a segment of the multimedia presentation. The compressed video data includes reference frames used for video compression. A data file that is associated with the playlist file is also downloaded by the client device over the network from the streaming server using a transfer protocol and provides information identifying a location, a size, and a time stamp for each the reference frames contained in the media files listed by the playlist file. This information can be used by the client device to perform trick plays and to switch and stitch between variant streams.
