A vane for an exhaust system duct in a gas turbine engine including a vane plate, a guide plate, and a baffle. The vane plate includes a leading edge, a first leg and a second leg, with the first and second legs respectively extending on opposing sides of the leading edge to form a substantially U-shaped profile. The baffle connects respective distal ends of the first and second legs. The guide plate is accommodated within the vane plate, and includes a first aperture extending along the guide plate and aligned with the leading edge. The vane further includes a fluid inlet arranged, in use, to direct a fluid flow from outside the duct into an interior of the vane.

Vane

A vane for a duct, such as an exit guide vane for an exhaust duct of a gas turbine engine, includes a vane plate, an interior strut and an internal wall disposed between the vane plate and the strut. The vane further includes a fluid inlet in the form of a scoop arranged to direct bypass fluid from outside the duct into a gap between the vane plate and the internal wall.

A fluid vectoring nozzle comprises flow vectoring means suitable for selectively producing a fluid dynamic throat in the nozzle in a plane oblique to the axis of the nozzle, such that in operation fluid flow passing through the throat is rotated about an axis parallel to and coincident with the plane of the throat. That is to say, the present invention comprises flow vectoring means suitable for selectively producing a fluid dynamic throat in the nozzle in a plane oblique to the axis of the nozzle, such that, in operation, fluid passing through the fluid dynamic throat is turned towards an angle perpendicular to the plane of the throat. Fluid injection means are provided to inject a control fluid into the nozzle through a perforate region provided in at least one nozzle wall, thereby generating a fluid dynamic restriction which initiates the formation of the fluid dynamic throat.
