A method for processing transaction data, implemented by a communications terminal having a touch screen. The method includes: detecting a necessity of entering a piece of personal identification data; transmitting to a card reader connected to the communications terminal a request for supporting a display of a virtual keypad, the request comprising a piece of data representing a passage of the communications terminal from a 'master' mode to a 'slave' mode of operation, the slave mode leading to implementation of the method for processing transaction data under the exclusive control of the card reader; of entry, by the user on the virtual keypad, of the piece of personal identification data; and receiving, from the card reader, the piece of personal identification data.

A peripheral device intended to be coupled in a mobile and removable manner to an electronic payment terminal having contactless communication. The peripheral device includes at least one first portion of a contactless communication of the electronic payment terminal and at least one connector that cooperates, when the peripheral device is coupled to the electronic payment terminal, with at least one complementary connector on the electronic payment terminal. The connectors form a wireline communication between the first portion of the contactless communication of the peripheral device and the electronic payment terminal.

User credit card data or smart chip data or Near Field Communication data is easily transferred from a card reader to a host device via a matrix bar code such as a Quick Response (QR) code. Card reader will convert magnetic signal/smart chip/NFC data into machine readable form and then convert it into matrix bar code to be consumed by a device that is capable of capturing the matrix bar code.
