The disclosure provides methods of preparing small pore zeolites, the method including using a first organic structure-directing agent and a second organic structure-directing agent to crystallize the zeolites, wherein the first organic structure-directing agent is bis-quaternary ammonium cations, and the second organic structure-directing agent is mono-quaternary ammonium cations. Further disclosed are small pore zeolites having a controlled framework aluminum distribution, and selective catalytic reduction catalyst compositions, articles, and systems including such zeolites promoted with a metal.

Zeolite structure synthesized using mixtures of organic structure directing agents

Disclosed in certain embodiments are ZSM-5 zeolite microspheres. The ZSM-5 zeolite microspheres may contain substantially no clay or calcined clay material. The ZSM-5 zeolite microspheres may have a ZSM-5 zeolite content of at least 70 wt. %. Disclosed in certain embodiments is a method of forming ZSM-5 zeolite microspheres including treating microspheres with at least one alkali solution.

Disclosed in certain embodiments are ZSM-5 zeolite microspheres. Disclosed in certain embodiments is a method of forming ZSM-5 zeolite microspheres including: 1) shaping a mixture into microspheres where the mixture includes a silica material and of particulates selected from at least one high-density material with an absolute bulk density of at least 0.3 g/cc, ZSM-5 zeolite crystals, and combinations thereof; 2) calcining the microspheres; and 3) reacting and subsequently heating the microspheres with at least one alkali solution to form ZSM-5 zeolite in-situ on the microspheres, where the ZSM-5 zeolite microspheres contain substantially no clay or calcined clay material.

Novel catalysts, substantially free of Cu and Zn, useful for the reformation of methanol and steam into Hfor use in hydrogen fuel cells and their use are described herein.

Methanol steam reforming catalysts

Described is a metal oxide support material containing nanoscaled iron-platinum group metal particles having a particle size in the range of 0.5 to 10 nm. At least 70% of the nanoscaled iron-platinum group metal particles are located on an outside surface layer of the metal oxide support material. The outside surface layer has an average volume of less than 50% based on the total volume of the metal oxide support material. Additionally, described is a process for preparation of metal oxide support materials containing nanoscaled iron-platinum group metal particles. Furthermore, described is the use of metal oxides containing nanoscaled iron-platinum group metal particles as catalysts, for example as a diesel oxidation catalyst for the treatment of exhaust gas emissions from a diesel engine.

Methods of manufacturing catalysts are described in which ionic silver is impregnated on particulate hydroxylated alumina particles.

Catalysts, systems and methods are described to reduce NOemissions of an internal combustion engine. In one embodiment, an emissions treatment system for an exhaust stream is provided having a catalyst comprising silver and a platinum group metal on a particulate alumina support, the atomic fraction of the platinum group metal being less than or equal to about 0.25. Methods of manufacturing catalysts are described in which silver is impregnated on alumina particles.

Catalysts, systems and methods are described to reduce NOemissions of an internal combustion engine. In one embodiment, an emissions treatment system for an exhaust stream is provided having an SCR catalyst comprising silver tungstate on an alumina support. The emissions treatment system may be used for the treatment of exhaust streams from diesel engines and lean burn gasoline engines. An emissions treatment system may further comprise an injection device operative to dispense a hydrocarbon reducing agent upstream of the catalyst.

An alcohol steam reforming catalyst for generating hydrogen contains palladium, yttrium, and at least one of cerium and a metal oxide. The catalyst displays both an improved alcohol conversion rate and improved carbon dioxide selectivity. Methods of making and using the alcohol steam reforming catalyst are described.

Catalyst composition for alcohol steam reforming

Methods are disclosed for providing a library of composite or novel composition samples on a support. The method involves depositing one or more components as concentration gradients on the surface of the support. The concentration gradients are placed on the support in the form of superimposed triangles which allow ready formation of composite or composition samples containing three or more components. The samples can be removed from the support by drilling out portions of the coated support so as to yield individual tablets containing the support with one or more component layers thereon. By using this method, a vast number of samples can be made.

Combinatorial synthesis

Methods are disclosed for providing a library of composite compositions on a support. The method involves depositing one or more components onto the support on either discrete spaced regions of the support or as a continuous concentration gradients on the surface of the support. The composite samples can be removed from the support by drilling out portions of the coated support so as to yield individual composite tablets containing the support with one or more component layers thereon. By using this method, a vast number of composites can be made and tested simultaneously.

A metal substrate is fabricated and coated with a catalyst for ozone conversion of atmosphere passing through the substrate. A plurality of aluminum foil sheets that have been slit, stretched and twisted into a plurality of regularly repeating channels having geometrically shaped openings are serially positioned one on top the other to form a foil stack with channel openings partially blocked by channel walls of overlying foil sheets. Thicker covers with openings at the top and bottom of the stack form a sandwich and the sandwich pleated to form corrugations in a flexible but rigid sandwich substrate. The channel walls are coated with an ozone depleting catalyst which the ozone atmosphere contacts to remove ozone as the ozone atmosphere travels through the stack construction.

In particular, the invention relates to novel zeolitic molecular sieve compositions, having a high alumina-to-silica ratio, with additional occluded non-zeolitic silicate, and solid particulate alumina is the source of alumina in the zeolite.
