Methods and systems for registering a manipulator assembly and independently positionable surgical table are provided herein. In one aspect, methods include reading a fiducial marker on the surgical table with a sensor associated with the manipulator assembly and localizing the manipulator assembly and surgical table with respect to a common reference frame. Methods may further include translating a 3D configuration of the surgical table to a 2D frame of reference so as to estimate a 3D pose of the surgical table relative the manipulator assembly for use in coordinating movements therebetween.

A robotic system has arms, arm processors, arm supervisor, and system supervisor. Each arm includes nodes for controlling motors in the arm. Each node, including each arm processor, detects faults affecting the node, places the node into a safe state upon detecting a fault, propagates a fault notification, diagnoses the fault and classifies it, and sends an error message to the supervisor processor. The arm supervisor may detect faults affecting an arm and also perform fault reaction activities. The system supervisor handles the fault as either a system or local fault depending upon its class. For system faults, a fault notification is sent to the arm processors of non-failed arms so that the non-failed arms are placed in the safe state. For local faults, a degraded operation option is provided to a user and if the fault is classified as recoverable, a recovery option is provided to the user.

The present invention provides a dual mode clock alignment device including a clock buffer cell, a PLL, and a first set and second set of buffers. The clock buffer cell is arranged to receive a first clock and delays the first clock. The PLL is arranged to receive the delayed first clock from the clock buffer and outputs a second clock. The first and second sets of buffers are arranged to receive the delayed first clock from the clock buffer cell for operating in a first clock mode. The first and second sets of buffers are further arranged to receive the second clock from the PLL for operating in a second clock mode. In this arrangement, the first set of buffers delays the received clock by a first delay to output a third clock and the second set of buffers delays the delayed clock by a second delay to output a fourth clock. When operating in the second clock mode, the first, third, and fourth clocks are all aligned.

A host adapter integrated circuit that contains data transfer modules has a serial port that uses a single serial port pin to communicate with a slave serial port input-output integrated circuit that interfaces to various resources that are included in a support circuit. The serial port forms a packet from each byte of information to be transferred from a module to the slave device by adding a start bit before the byte, followed by a parity bit at the end of the byte and followed by a stop bit. After transmitting the packet, the serial port waits for an acknowledge packet from the slave serial port input-output integrated circuit, for example for two clock cycles after transmission of the packet. For synchronous operation, a common oscillator drives the clock signal on the slave serial port input-output integrated circuit and host adapter integrated circuit. The serial port pin in the host adapter integrated circuit is connected to a shifter circuit in the serial port that serially clocks data from the serial port pin and passes the data parallelly to a bus in the host adapter integrated circuit and vice versa.

Disclosed is a SCSI host adapter for use in a computer system. The SCSI host adapter is configured to provide the computer system with interconnection with internal and/or external target devices. The SCSI host adapter includes a low voltage differential connector for interconnecting to a low voltage differential bus, and the low voltage differential bus is configured to communicate a first transaction. The SCSI host adapter also includes a single ended connector for interconnecting to a single ended bus, and the single ended bus is configured to communicate a second transaction. Furthermore, the SCSI host adapter includes a transceiver unit that is configured to interface between the low voltage differential bus and the single ended bus and produce a target information signal. The target information signal is configured to indicate whether the first transaction or the second transaction is occurring between the SCSI host adapter and the low voltage differential bus or the single ended bus.
