Techniques are disclosed for generating a pixel-aligned layout grid. In some examples, a method may include receiving an input that quantifies a selected one of multiple horizontal dimensions, a number of columns, a column width, a gutter width, and a margin width, of a layout grid. The method may also include, responsive to receiving the input, calculating respective integer values for the remaining multiple horizontal dimensions based on the received input quantifying the selected one of the multiple horizontal dimensions. The method may further include generating a layout grid based on the integer values for the remaining multiple horizontal dimensions and the received input quantifying the selected one of the multiple horizontal dimensions, and rendering the generated layout grid as a pixel-aligned layout grid.

This document describes techniques and apparatuses that enable absolute positioning with publishable HTML code. These techniques permit a designer to place objects at absolute positions in a design interface and see how a webpage will actually look in response to that placement. A designer need not publish the design before seeing how it will actually look because the design interface determines and then uses publishable HTML code to present the design, even in real time. Furthermore, in some embodiments, the techniques provide real-time feedback showing parameters of the publishable HTML code, thereby permitting the designer to quickly and easily change the publishable HTML code by altering the shown parameters.

Systems and methods are provided for managing, in a software development environment, related files that are used for generating an output presentation document. A software development environment discovers the related files for an application (e.g., web page) that is being authored, and the software development tool presents a visual indication (e.g., graphical tabs) of the discovered related files in a user interface. The software development tool further aids in managing the presentation of the related files by enabling any of the related files to be selectively displayed in a designated interface (e.g., window). That is, a designated interface may be provided in which the content of any selected related file may be alternately displayed in response to a user selecting a visual indication of a related file. In one embodiment, the designated interface is a textual source code view interface that is provided by the software development tool.

Systems and methods for managing related files in a software development environment

A web page authoring tool is provided enables a developer to interact with run-time output presentation of a page being authored. The web page authoring tool includes an embedded browser that supports a 'live preview mode' that enables a run-time page to be viewed. Thus, the live preview mode presents an operational run-time output presentation that is generated by browser source code (rather than original source code), just as would be presented by a client-side browser, and which may present a code view of the run-time browser source code that generates such run-time output presentation. Further, the run-time output presentation view provided by the web page authoring tool remains interoperable with certain authoring support functions of the web page authoring tool, such as enabling a developer to easily access corresponding original source code for selected portions of a run-time page view.

Systems and methods are provided for freezing operation of dynamic code of a run-time web page, such as freezing JavaScript code of a web page. A software application that is being employed for analyzing a web page includes functionality to enable a user to freeze operation of dynamic code, such as JavaScript code, of the run-time page, thereby allowing the user to view, analyze, and/or modify the page's output presentation and/or underlying source files at the given state at which the page was frozen. Such software application may comprise a web page authoring tool or a client-side analysis tool (e.g., testing tool), as examples.
