Electric machines, such as motors, may include an armature and a field component, and at least one of the armature or the field component may include a laminated structure having a plurality of slots into which a plurality of conductive elements are positioned. Additionally, a polymeric insulation layer may be formed directly on the laminated structure at least within the plurality of slots.

A motor may include a stator assembly and a rotor assembly co-radially arranged with the stator assembly and configured to rotate relative to the stator assembly. At least one of the stator assembly and the rotor assembly may include a flexible printed circuit board having a base layer and a plurality of conductive elements formed on the base layer.

An induction motor may include a stator assembly and a rotor assembly that revolves or rotates around the state assembly. Additionally, a pole pitch of the induction motor may be less than two inches. The stator assembly may also optionally include a fractional slot winding.
