A system according to the present disclosure includes a pump operating parameter module and a purge flow control module. The pump operating parameter module determines a value of an operating parameter of a purge pump that delivers purge fluid from a canister in an evaporative emissions system to an intake system of an engine. The operating parameter of the purge pump includes at least one of a speed of the purge pump, an amount of current supplied to the purge pump, and an amount of power supplied to the purge pump. The purge flow control module controls at least one of a purge valve and the purge pump to adjust an amount of purge fluid delivered to a cylinder of an engine based on the determined value of the operating parameter of the purge pump.

A method of determining aging of a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) in an engine exhaust system includes receiving a first sensor signal from a first nitrogen oxides (NOx) sensor positioned in exhaust flow upstream of the DOC. The first sensor signal is indicative of an amount of NOx in the exhaust flow upstream of the DOC. The method further includes receiving a second sensor signal from a second NOx sensor positioned in exhaust flow downstream of the DOC. The second sensor signal is indicative of an amount of NOx downstream of the DOC. A difference between the first sensor signal and the second sensor signal is calculated via a controller. A DOC aging level based on a predetermined correlation between the difference and DOC aging is then determined by the controller.

A selective catalytic reduction (SCR) device monitoring system includes an engine out NOx monitoring module, an SCR out NOx monitoring module configured and disposed to monitor NOx released from the SCR device, and a NOx storage model module operatively connected to the engine out NOx module and the SCR out NOx monitoring module. The NOx storage model module is configured and disposed to determine an amount of NOx stored in the SCR device. A consumed ammonia correction model module is operatively coupled to the NOx storage model module and configured and disposed to calculate a corrected consumed ammonia correction factor.

The present disclosure provides a control system for a heating element used in an oxygen sensor. The control system comprises a rate module that periodically determines a rate of change of current through the heating element and a temperature adjustment module that periodically compares the rate of change and a rate value. The temperature adjustment module selectively adjusts an operating temperature of the oxygen sensor between a normal temperature and a remedial temperature lower than the normal temperature based on the comparison of the rate of change and the rate value. The present disclosure also provides a related control method for the heating element.
