The present disclosure relates to gear systems. In at least one embodiment, a gear system includes a first shaft disposed through an orifice of a first gear. The first gear has a first surface and a second surface disposed opposite the first surface, and the second surface has a plurality of teeth. The gear system includes a second gear having a first surface and a second surface disposed opposite the first surface, and the first surface has a plurality of teeth. The gear system has a carrier connected to the first shaft at the first surface of the carrier. The gear system has a plurality of planetary gears connected to the carrier. The gear system includes a bracket connected to the first gear at the first end of the bracket. The first shaft and the second shaft rotate on an axis.

Gear systems

A gear system. The gear system includes a tiered base defining a plurality of circular platforms, wherein each platform includes a distinct diameter. The platforms are arranged in a stacked configuration in order of decreasing diameter from a lowermost platform to an uppermost platform. A plurality of rings are stacked on the platforms, each ring having an inner side with a plurality of gears thereon, wherein each gear is freely rotatable about an axle extending radially inwardly from the inner side of each ring. A ring track is disposed on a lower surface of each ring and a platform track is disposed on an upper surface of each circular platform. Each gear engages both a platform track and a ring track. Each ring increases in rotational speed with respect to a below ring, allowing the gear system to increase the output speed of a motor with minimal loss of torque.

Gear system

A polymer-micelle complex suitable for use as an aid to preparing fibers, particularly nanofibers, by electrospinning. The polymer-micelle complex may be designed to impart viscosity, surface tension and conductivity properties optimal for electrospinning. By incorporating the complex as a secondary ingredient, one may electrospin sparingly soluble or low molecular weight polymers. Moreover, the polymer-micelle complex can be used as a generic carrier for preparing fibers incorporating other desired materials, such as rigid or globular (hard-to-spin) polymers, enzymes, cells, viral particles and nanoparticles.

An assembly for testing the effectiveness of anti-fog coatings on eyewear lenses, the assembly comprising a chamber for receiving and retaining the eyewear, means for controlling the temperature and relative humidity in the chamber, means for providing warm moist air to the chamber, and a hazemeter for detecting and recording haze values exhibited by the lenses; and a method for evaluating effectiveness of anti-fog coatings on eyewear lenses, utilizing the assembly.

Nanometer scale structures

An apparatus and method to test the abrasion resistance of materials. In one embodiment, the apparatus comprises a conduit network, a primary air stream generating device to generate a primary air stream in the conduit network, a secondary air stream generating device to produce a secondary air stream in the conduit network, and a particulate handling device to deposit particulate into the conduit network so that the particulate enters the secondary air stream. The conduit network merges the secondary air stream into the primary air stream to allow the particulate to enter the primary air stream, and allow the primary air stream to blow the particulate at a test sample positioned within the conduit network.
