A computer-aided engineering (CAE) toolkit is disclosed that streamlines and automates aspects of a CAE simulation to validate the designs of pressure-controlling components, such as BOP rams. The CAE toolkit enables a designer to provide a model of a pressure-controlling component, and to provide property values that describe aspects of the system to be modeled. Based on these inputs, the CAE toolkit generates a model for the system that includes the pressure-controlling component, as well as any other components that will be part of the simulation. The CAE toolkit can automatically generate a finite element analysis (FEA) model from the system model, and then use the FEA model to perform a simulation of the pressure-controlling component during operation. The CAE toolkit enables a designer with no training or experience with CAE or FEA techniques to perform and automate simulations of the operation of a pressure-controlling component design.

Computer-aided engineering toolkit for simulated testing of pressure-controlling component designs

A multi-metallic pressure-controlling component and a hot isostatic pressure (HIP) manufacturing process and system are disclosed. An example multi-metallic component for use in the oil field services industry includes a first metal alloy that forms a first portion of the multi-metallic pressure-controlling component, and a second metal alloy that forms a second portion of the multi-metallic pressure-controlling component. A diffusion bond is disposed at an interface between the first metal alloy and the second metal alloy that joins the first metal alloy to the second metal alloy within the multi-metallic pressure-controlling component.

Hot isostatic pressing (HIP) fabrication of multi-metallic components for pressure-controlling equipment

A multi-metallic pressure-controlling component and a hot isostatic pressure (HIP) manufacturing process and system are disclosed. An example multi-metallic ram includes a first portion formed from a first metal alloy, a second portion formed from a second metal alloy, and a diffusion bond at an interface between the first metal alloy and the second metal alloy that joins the first metal alloy to the second metal alloy within the multi-metallic ram.

An accumulator system includes a chamber configured to receive a first fluid, a piston configured to move within the chamber to pressurize and drive the first fluid out of the chamber, a driving shaft coupled to the piston, a screw adapter coupled to the driving shaft, a plurality of anti-rotation shafts, and an electric actuator configured to couple to the screw adapter and to rotate the screw adapter to axially move the driving shaft. The piston includes a body defining a first aperture and a plurality of counterbores. The driving shaft is coupled to the piston via the first aperture. The piston is configured to slide over the plurality of anti-rotation shafts via the plurality of counterbores.

Accumulator system

An accumulator system that includes a housing. The housing defines a function chamber and a balance chamber. A piston moves axially within the housing. The piston separates the function chamber from the balance chamber. An electric actuator couples to and drives the piston within the housing to compress and drive a first fluid out of the function chamber.

A double acting accumulator system includes a housing including an actuator housing, a first piston housing coupled to the actuator housing, a second piston housing coupled to the actuator housing, a shaft configured to move axially within the first piston housing and the second piston housing, a first piston coupled to a first end of the shaft, a second piston coupled to a second end of the shaft, an electric actuator configured to couple to and drive the shaft to alternatingly compress fluid with the first piston in the first piston housing and the second piston in the second piston housing to drive fluid out of the respective first piston housing and the second piston housing, and a plurality of anti-rotation shafts configured to block rotation of the shaft.

A method to create a simulation of a shearing process for a ram blowout preventer (BOP) comprising the steps of building a 3D digital model of the ram BOP including damage parameters based on generic material properties of the ram BOP; inputting the 3D digital model of the ram BOP into a damage model; and simulating the shearing process using the 3D digital model of the ram BOP and the damage model.

A blowout preventer (BOP) includes a main body that includes a bore extending through the main body. The BOP also includes a cavity intersecting the bore and a pair of opposing shear rams configured to shear a tubular located in the bore. The opposing shear rams are two duplicate shear rams.

In one embodiment, a blowout preventer body () includes a drill-through bore () extending through the blowout preventer body and a ram cavity () transverse to the drill-through bore. Blowout preventers having bodies without flanged necks are provided. In one embodiment, a blowout preventer stack includes first and second blowout preventers having independent and separable main bodies, each including a bore and a ram cavity transverse to the bore. The lower end of the main body of the first blowout preventer is fastened directly to an upper end of the main body of the second blowout preventer without a flanged neck extending the bore between the ram cavities of the first and second blowout preventers. In some instances, the main bodies of the first and second blowout preventers include external connection flanges that extend laterally from ram cavity body portions of the main bodies so as to enable connection of the two main bodies along the sides of the main bodies away from their bores. Additional systems, devices, and methods are also disclosed.

A controls module for use with a subsea landing string, a blowout preventer (BOP) stack and a lower marine riser package (LMRP) is disclosed. The controls module can be integrated into the BOP stack or the LMRP or between the BOP stack and the LMRP. The controls module includes an input line that is coupled to control the subsea landing string through the BOP or the LMRP. The input line can be a hydraulic line, an electrical line, or a combination.

A subsea connection for a pressurized fluid flow path includes a body comprising a body flow path and a spool attachable to the body. The spool includes a spool flow path in fluid communication with the body flow path with the spool attached to the body and a corrosion resistant layer. A seal is also included and is actuatable against the corrosion resistant layer to form a seal between the body and the spool.
