A graphene heat exchanger for absorbing thermal energy and located in a downhole tool. The downhole tool is located in a borehole intersecting an earth formation and comprising a thermal component. The heat exchanger includes graphene and is thermally coupled to the thermal component. The heat exchanger is configured to absorb thermal energy from the thermal component or absorb ambient thermal energy from the earth formation.

A system and method for controlling the direction of a burner flame exposed to potentially impinging wind or other air flows. At least one fluid nozzle is mounted in proximity to a burner nozzle. The fluid nozzle is configured to produce a spray of fluid provided by a fluid supply system. As the spray is produced, an area of low pressure is created near the fluid nozzle, creating a buffer air flow around the spray. The buffer air flow is directed towards the potentially impinging air flow such that at least a portion of the potentially impinging air flow is counteracted and no longer impinges upon the burner flame. One or more fluid nozzles may be used in the burner flame control system to counteract one or more air flows. The burner flame control system may also include one or more sensors for providing feedback to an operator or control system capable of adjusting the burner control system by, for example, changing the spray pattern, position, or orientation of the nozzle or by changing the volume and pressure of fluid supplied to the fluid nozzle.

A downhole viscosity sensor and related systems and methods are disclosed. The sensor includes a first fluid flow path including a turbine and a velocity sensor, a second fluid flow path including a second turbine and a second velocity sensor, a mechanical or electrical linkage linking the first turbine and second turbine to cause the turbines to rotate in unison. The sensor also includes a field generator, which may be a magnetic field or electric field generator. The first fluid flow path includes an open flow path for receiving a fluid from a formation and the second fluid flow path includes a closed flow path having a reference fluid that has a variable but known viscosity.

An assembly for measuring a temperature of a fluid flowing through a tubing section is provided. The assembly can include the tubing section that can include a reduced-width portion. The reduced-width portion can traverse a circumference of the tubing section. The assembly can also include a temperature measurement component in thermal communication with an inner diameter of the tubing section. A temperature of a fluid flowing through the tubing section can be detected using the temperature measurement component.

An assembly for measuring a temperature of a fluid flowing through a tubing section is provided. The assembly can include the tubing section and a temperature measurement component in thermal communication with an inner diameter of the tubing section. A temperature of a fluid flowing through the tubing section can be detected using the temperature measurement component.

Certain aspects and features of the present invention are directed to a supercapacitor device that can be disposed in a wellbore through a fluid-producing formation. The supercapacitor device can include a body that can be disposed in the wellbore, a supercapacitor disposed in the body, at least two terminals disposed at least partially outside the body, and an actuation mechanism. The supercapacitor stores energy. The terminals can be electrically connected with the supercapacitor. An electrical connection between the supercapacitor and the terminals can cause the energy to be discharged from the supercapacitor in response to a conductive material providing an electrical path between the at least two terminals. The actuation mechanism can selectively prevent a deployment of the supercapacitor device in the wellbore from causing a discharge of the energy from the supercapacitor.

A magnetic attachment mechanism for use with a downhole tool comprises a plurality of permanent magnets each having a magnetic field, a demagnetizer configured to at least partially cancel one or more magnetic fields in an activated state, an actuator configured to transition the demagnetizer between the activated state and a deactivated state or the deactivated state and the activated state, and at least one downhole tool coupled to the plurality of permanent magnets.
