System and method of determining reservoir fluid flow condition and composition downhole

The present disclosure relates to systems and methods of determining a wellbore position in a subterranean formation by using gravity sensors to detect a gravity anomaly related to a presence of the wellbore, contents within the wellbore, and or fluid flowing through an interface of the wellbore. A model of the subterranean formation predicts a gravity profile, including the gravity anomaly, and the model may be constrained with a depth of the gravity anomaly as calculated with at least one of a known dimension or a known gravitational field change related to the gravity anomaly. The wellbore position is determined within the model by changing model input data until the gravity profile converges with the gravity anomaly.

Surface tracking systems and methods for downhole wellbore position and trajectory determination

Methods to identify fluid holdups during downhole fluid sampling operations includes obtaining, using a sampling tool positioned within a wellbore, one or more fluid measurements using at least one sensor having a first set of spatial resolution, obtaining one or more second fluid measurements having a second spatial resolution, calculating a first fluid ratio using the at least one sensor having the first set of spatial resolution measurements, calculating a second fluid ratio of the second fluid measurements using the at least one sensor having the second set of spatial resolution, wherein the second set of spatial resolution is lower than the first set of spatial resolution, and identifying fluid holdup within the sampling tool when the differences between the two fluid ratios are higher than a limit or a similarity of the two fluid ratios are lower than a limit.

Fluid holdup monitoring in downhole fluid sampling tools

Systems and methods of separating multiphase flows in a flowline of a downhole fluid sampling and analysis tool, measuring target ions in the water phase, and separating between formation water and injection water are described. The system to separate the multiphase flows includes a three-dimensional barrier permeable to water and repelling oil and/or drilling mud filtrate into at least one bypass channel within the flowline of the downhole fluid sampling and analysis tool. For instance, the system to measure the targeted ions includes the system to separate the multiphase flows and an optical sensor, wherein the three-dimensional barrier has an aperture inside the three-dimensional barrier to let a light from an optical sensor go through perpendicular to the flowline.

Described herein are systems and techniques for monitoring for monitoring and evaluating conditions associated with a wellbore and wellbore operations that use neural operators instead of computationally intensive iterative differential equations. Such systems and techniques allow for determinations to be made as operations associated with a wellbore are performed. An apparatus comprises a formation tester tool to be positioned in a borehole within a formation, wherein the formation tester tool comprises a pressure sensor and a pad that is radially extendable with respect to an axis of the formation tester tool, and wherein the pressure sensor is inside the pad. The apparatus comprises a first radially extendable inner packer that is axially above the pad with respect to the axis of the formation tester tool and a second radially extendable outer packer that is axially above the first radially extendable inner packer. The apparatus comprises a third radially extendable inner packer that is axially below the pad with respect to the axis of the formation tester tool and a fourth radially extendable outer packer that is axially below the third radially extendable inner packer.

Pressure measurement mitigation

A method and system for correlating two or more logs. The method may include reviewing an openhole log to identify one or more depths within a wellbore for testing, disposing a fluid sampling tool into the wellbore, creating a correlation log with the fluid sampling tool, depth-matching the correlation log to the openhole log to create a relative shift table, and moving the fluid sampling tool to the one or more depths within the wellbore based at least in part on the relative shift table. The system may include a fluid sampling tool disposed in a wellbore to create a correlation log and an information handling system connected to the fluid sampling tool.

Automatic landing of formation testing tools

Systems and methods are provided for facilitating continuous affinity-based separation of phases in multi-phase formation fluid in a downhole environment. A system can comprise a formation sampler that samples a formation to gather multi-phase formation fluid in a continuous flow through a wellbore during a testing pump out of the formation. The system can also comprise a phase separator comprising one or more affinity-based separators that continuously separates one or more phases of the multi-phase formation fluid through either or both diffusion or flow while downhole in the wellbore during the testing pump out.

Continuous separation of multi-phase formation fluids during downhole sampling and measuring

Described herein are systems and techniques for improving an accuracy of determinations made using data sensed in a wellbore or in a laboratory. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) sensing devices may be used to collect data in a wellbore or lab. NMR sensing devices include a magnet (e.g., a permanent magnet or electromagnet) that provides a magnetic field that aligns the spins of protons in substances near the NMR sensing device. The magnetic field strength provided by the magnet of the NMR sensing device affects the sensitivity of the NMR sensing device and affects frequencies that the NMR sensing device effectively uses when the NMR sensing device operates. Systems and techniques of the present disclosure may measure concentrations of lithium in brine deposits when identifying particular brine deposits that include sufficient lithium concentrations to justify extracting lithium from those particular brine deposits.

Downhole detection of lithium containing minerals by lithium 7 nuclear magnetic resonance

Aspects of the subject technology relate to systems and methods for configuring links or switches that connect analog circuit elements. These analog circuit elements may be connected to a plurality of sensors that may sense different types of data. For example, these sensors may sense acoustic data, electromagnetic (EM) data, temperature, pressure, and possibly other metrics that may be located in a wellbore of an oil or gas well. These analog circuits may be configured as needed (e.g., on-the-fly) to perform optimized types of computations that may include the solving of differential equations. Examples of analog circuits that may be incorporated into a sensing system include yet are not limited to operational amplifier circuits or memcomputing devices, other components, or combinations thereof. Configured analog circuits may be coupled to digital electronics that perform other functions.

Digitally reconfigurable analog computations for solving optimization problems

This disclosure presents systems and processes to collect elemental composition of target fluid and solid material located downhole of a borehole. Waveguides can be utilized that include capillary optics to deliver emitted high energy into a container or a conduit and then to detect the high energy. A source waveguide can be used to emit the high energy into the target fluid and a detector waveguide can collect resulting measurements. Each waveguide can include a protective sheath and a pressure cap on the end of the capillary optics that are proximate the target fluid, to protect against abrasion and target fluid pressure. In other aspects, a pulsed neutron tool can be utilized in place of the waveguides to collect measurements. The collected measurements can be utilized to generate chemical signature results that can be utilized to determine the elemental composition of the target fluid or of the solid material.
