The present disclosure relates generally to building surface panels, for example, polymer siding suitable for covering the exterior surface of a building. The present disclosure relates more particularly to a siding panel having a depth extending from a rear elevation to a front elevation. The siding panel includes a fastening strip at the upper side, an upper lock adjacent to the fastening strip, a lower lock at the lower side, and a panel body extending from the upper lock to the lower lock. The panel body has a contoured profile including an upper edge that is disposed at the front elevation and abuts the upper lock, a lower edge that is disposed at the front elevation and abuts the lower lock, and a first section disposed between the upper edge and the lower edge that projects toward the rear elevation of the siding panel to a first trough.

A plug cutting tool that produces plugs having an aesthetic exterior surface common to a donor board. The tool can include a tool axis; a carrier that rotates about the tool axis; and a blade which is joined with the carrier and which includes a first cutting edge moveable along a first extension axis transverse to the tool axis as the blade rotates about the tool axis. The first cutting edge angles toward and moves closer to the tool axis as the first cutting edge bores a groove in a donor board. The first cutting edge can advance into the donor board to produce the groove surrounding a plug having a plug face, a plug bottom, and a plug sidewall inwardly tapered from the plug face to the plug bottom so that the plug face has a greater dimension than the plug bottom. A siding panel includes a hanger section adjacent to an upper edge and a lower locking section adjacent to a lower edge. When installed, the lower locking section of an upper siding panel partially overlaps, extends into, and interlocks with a hanger section of a lower siding panel in an interference fit.

A fastener cap system can include a rigid cap and a sealing member which forms a liquid barrier so moisture is impaired from entering a space under the rigid cap and/or around a fastener installed through it. The sealing member can include a central seal disposed on an upper surface of the cap, the seal extending beyond a head of a fastener, which extends through the cap and sealing member, so that moisture is impaired from entering the cap under the head. The sealing member can be above and below respective lowermost and uppermost cap surfaces so the cap system can be fed cleanly and efficiently through a cap feeder during installation via a tool. The sealing member, which can have a higher coefficient of friction than the rigid cap, thereby does not drag along a cap feeder and cause feeding issues. Related methods of manufacture and use are provided.

The present disclosure relates generally to siding, for example, suitable for covering a wall surface. The present disclosure relates more particularly to a frame for a wall panel. The frame includes a support strip extending in a lateral direction across the width of the wall panel and has first and second ends. The frame also includes a row of columns extending in a first direction from the support strip. Each column includes a proximal end attached to the support strip and a free distal end. The row of columns includes a first column disposed at a first end of the row of columns and laterally offset from the first end of the support strip, and a second column disposed at a second end of the row of columns and laterally offset from the second end of the support strip.

The present disclosure relates generally to cladding, for example, suitable for covering a building surface. The present disclosure relates more particularly to a building surface panel including a longitudinal panel body and a fastening element. The longitudinal body extends along a length from a first end to a second end and having a first edge and a second edge. The fastening element includes a longitudinal strip extending along the first edge of the panel body, a first aperture passing through the longitudinal strip, and a first reinforcing projection extending outward from a perimeter edge of the first aperture.

A fastener guide is provided including a base plate that engages a first board, a guide member that maintains an advancing fastener at a preselected offset angle relative to the first board, and a retainer clip that engages a second board that is transverse to the first board. The retainer clip includes first and second prongs that resiliently hold the guide in place as the fastener is advanced at the offset angle, optionally without manual input so that a user can manipulate the fastener and a driving tool instead of holding the guide to align the fastener. A fastener installation tool is provided with a first fastener guide that guides a fastener into a side of a workpiece at an angle, and includes a pusher block that can be used to urge the workpiece toward an adjacent workpiece. The tool can include a second fastener guide having a spacer with a spacer width that establishes a consistent, predetermined gap between the adjacent workpieces. The pusher block can be strengthened via a pusher block width that is greater than the spacer width to withstand forces when the pusher block urges one workpiece toward another. The guide can be selectively moveable in a guide tube and able to be clamped in a selected location therein to set the spacer a predetermined distance from the pusher block to accommodate a variety of board sizes. Related methods of use also are provided.

The present disclosure relates generally to cladding for covering a building surface, for example suitable for covering the exterior surface of a building. The present disclosure relates more particularly to a siding panel including a panel body having a length, a width, a front face, and a rear face. The panel body further includes a first strip extending along the length of the panel body with a three dimensional surface texture. The three dimensional surface texture is a geometric pattern repeating along the front face of the panel body. The panel body includes a second strip extending along the length of the panel body adjacent to the first strip with a surface texture that is different than that of the first strip. The siding panel further includes a first lock, a second lock, and a fastening strip secured to the first lock.

One aspect of the disclosure is a siding panel having a front face, a rear face, a top edge, a bottom edge, a first side, and a second side, the top edge being folded over to create two layers of material. The siding panel further includes a first locking mechanism disposed on the front face adjacent the top edge configured to interlock with a second locking mechanism of a second siding panel, the first locking mechanism having a generally S-shaped portion. The siding panel also includes a second locking mechanism disposed on the rear face of the siding panel having a generally U-shaped portion including a curved section, and the second locking mechanism being configured to interlock with a first locking mechanism of a third siding panel. The first locking mechanism and the second locking mechanism facilitate both locking and unlocking of the siding panel from the third siding panel.
