A system and method for transforming physical currency in the form of banknotes into digital currency is disclosed. The system includes a device that can scan and destroy banknotes, and send information about the destroyed banknotes to a digital currency minting system so that a corresponding value of digital currency can be created on a corresponding digital currency network. The device includes at least two optical devices, where one of the optical devices is displaced from a shredding assembly at a particular distance to ensure that a confirmation of destruction image including a serial number on the banknote can be captured at approximately the same time that a sufficient amount of the banknote has been shredded to render the banknote invalid for use as currency.

System and methods for converting banknotes to digital currency

An accident detection system can retrieve a myriad of information as data relating to a driver or a vehicle of the driver. The suspicion assignment can be based on, with respect to historical insurance data, predetermined thresholds and/or machine learning for the retrieved information. The retrieved information can be verified by auxiliary data remote from the driver or the vehicle of the driver. The accident detection system can verify the suspicion by dispatching one or more notifications to the driver, and in the absence of response, determine whether the suspicion is true via the collection of information for a suspected location of the accident or from individuals associated with the driver.

A micropattern detection-based method and system of performing an authentication of video of a person in order to authorize access to a secured resource is provided. The user provides image data in which they present a secondary computing device with a specially fabricated screen cover. The screen cover includes a plurality of micro-holes that collectively provide a unique micropattern. When the user adjusts a display setting, the micropattern, previously cloaked, becomes apparent as an arrangement of pinpoints of light. The system and method are configured to evaluate the image data to determine whether the micropattern is present. If a micropattern is present, the system determines the image is authentic and can verify an identity of the person. In some cases, the system can further be configured to automatically grant the person access to one or more services for which they are authorized.

The present disclosure relates to detecting the use of fake voice command to activate microphones of smart devices. In one embodiment, sound characteristics associated with an audio signal from a microphone of smart device may be compared with other microphones of the smart device in order to detect fake voice commands. In another embodiment, sound characteristics associated with the audio signal from the microphone may be compared with a threshold range of stored sound characteristics in order to detect fake voice commands. In some embodiments, a controller may triangulate a position associated with a source of a sound in order to detect a fake voice command. In a further embodiment, a controller may verify that a user or associated electronic device are near a smart device to authorize a voice command.

Authentication techniques are described to allow a person to be authenticated to interact with an organization, where a type of authentication can be determined based on an environment in which the person is located. For example, an authentication server can collect a status information related to a safety setting of a mobile device. The safety setting can be enabled, e.g., if a person is driving a vehicle. When enabled, the safety setting can prevent the person from performing one or more operations on the mobile device. A method and system for creation of a virtual home center is disclosed. The system includes a plurality of IoT or smart devices connected to a network and arranged throughout a physical space, such as a house, apartment building, or other physical structure or edifice. In some embodiments, the devices can serve as beacons and receive sensed information via internal sensors and/or from other nearby devices such as a smoke detector. The sensors can be used to generate and render a virtual home within a virtual environment (e.g., VR/AR). In one example, the system is configured to communicate information between the virtual environment and IoT devices in the user's real home. A network of one or more enrolled devices can obtain infrared data that will be used by the system to determine whether there is a high likelihood of a fire in a building.
