Techniques and architectures are disclosed for a system capable of creating large changes in buoyancy that can be incorporated into underwater vehicles, embodiments of the system utilizing edge-welded, metal bellows disposed within a pressure vessel to balance a pressure differential across the bellows while using the bellows to displace fluid and thereby alter the buoyancy of a vehicle on which the system is disposed.

High-capacity lightweight variable buoyancy system

A bleed valve for use in a gas turbine engine of an aircraft includes a high-pressure cavity coupled to a valve terminal, which is itself coupled to a cap, which cap includes a valve seat configured to be sealed by a tube that serves as the valve gate. The tube is operably coupled to a movable end of a bellows, which is positioned within the high-pressure cavity. The opening and closing of the valve is controlled by the movement of the bellows within the high-pressure cavity, and, in turn, the movement of the tube towards the valve seat, with the valve closing as the bellows compresses.

Bellows-enabled bleed valve

A bleed valve for use in a gas turbine engine of an aircraft includes a high-pressure cavity coupled to a valve housing, which includes a valve seat configured to be sealed by a system poppet. The system poppet is operably coupled to a shaft that is itself coupled to a movable end of a bellows, which is positioned within the high-pressure cavity. The opening and closing of the valve is controlled by at least one cavity air port that is configured to inject a first fluid into the high-pressure cavity, thus compressing the bellows, and by a servo air port that is configured to inject a second fluid directly into the bellows, to expand it.

The invention provides an apparatus and method for maintaining pet waste in a fully-encapsulated environment whereby waste may be removed and litter may be added/replaced in a substantially sealed, dust-free, and clean manner. In one aspect, the pet waste management system comprises a sealed means by which litter may added and/or removed and/or exchange with fresh litter without the substantial release of contaminated dust and materials from the litter system. The invention also provides a vessel or container for receiving spent litter and/or for housing fresh litter where said vessel or container comprises a connection means for sealably connecting the vessel or container to an enclosed pet management system so that litter may be added and/or exchanged therewith. Further, the invention provides a continuous bagging dispenser fitted to a pet management system which allows for continuous removal of pet waste from the pet management system.
