Disclosed herein are apparatus, assemblies, and methods for mitigating thermal bow in the rotor of an engine at start-up. One apparatus includes a control module that facilitates operating the rotor prior to starting the engine and an acceleration module that facilitates accelerating the rotor to at least a threshold speed prior to starting the engine. An assembly includes a start-up device coupleable to the rotor and configured to start the rotor and a start-up module coupled to the start-up device in which the start-up device and the start-up module are configured to coordinate operations to accelerate the rotor to at least a threshold speed prior to starting the aircraft engine. One method includes transmitting a control signal to control the rotor prior to starting the engine and commanding the start-up device to accelerate the rotor to at least a threshold speed prior to starting the engine.

Apparatus, assemblies, and methods for mitigating thermal bow in the rotor of an engine at start-up

In an example, method of controlling thrust produced by a plurality of engines on an aircraft for assisting with nose-down recovery of the aircraft is described. The method includes selecting a maximum value of an aircraft parameter, measuring a value of the aircraft parameter while the aircraft is in flight, based on a comparison of the maximum value and the measured value determining that the measured value exceeds the maximum value, and reducing a thrust produced by each of the engines of the plurality of engines to bring the measured value of the aircraft parameter below the maximum value of the aircraft parameter.

Methods and systems for controlling thrust produced by a plurality of engines on an aircraft for assisting with certain flight conditions

An example method of optimizing reverse thrust operation on an aircraft having two or more engines while landing the aircraft is described. The method includes operating the two or more engines on the aircraft in a reverse idle during a landing rollout of the aircraft, responsively causing deployment of a thrust reverser on each of the engines causing a first reverse idle thrust for slowing the aircraft, monitoring each of the engines for failure of deployment of the thrust reverser, and based on detection of a failure of deployment of a respective thrust reverser on one of the engines, operating the one of the engines on the aircraft at a second reverse idle thrust optimized for a direction of an applied thrust of the one of the engines. The second reverse idle thrust is lower than the first reverse idle thrust.

Methods and aircraft for optimized reverse thrust operation during landing

Systems and methods for displaying N1 speed on a flight deck display in a manner that provides increased resolution at the upper end of the operating range. This is accomplished by a variable scale(s) which improves the functionality of the N1 gauge (serving as an indication of thrust) in the desired region. Also, there is visual indication to provide pilots the ability to discern if the current thrust is within a specific tolerance to the desired value within the takeoff region. This additional indication is based on color changes associated with the N1 display structure.
