A system and tool for monitoring ground-engaging products for earth working equipment that can monitor characteristics such as part identification, presence, condition, usage, and/or performance of the products on earth working equipment used, for example, in mining, construction, and dredging environments. The monitoring tool includes or is supported by a mobile device that is separate from the earth working equipment. Supporting the monitoring tool on a mobile device can, e.g., provide unique vantage points to monitor the earth working equipment products, monitor the products without inhibiting the operation of the earth working equipment or endangering personnel, closely approach areas of interest for secure and reliable gathering of information, monitor multiple earth working equipment, and/or be protected from the vibrations and impact shocks that can be associated with earth working equipment.

Monitoring ground-engaging products for earth working equipment

A handling apparatus for conducting in-field operations such as removing and/or installing wear parts on earth working equipment along a controlled path. The apparatus can include a crane, a joint having three axes of articulation and a tool.

System and process for conducting in-field operations

A product and system for identifying and monitoring a characteristic including the part ID, presence, condition, usage and/or performance of ground-engaging products used on various kinds of earth working equipment.

Apparatus and methods for detecting a characteristic of a ground engaging product on earth working equipment are described. The apparatus is operable to: measure a temperature profile at a ground engaging product location; compare the measured temperature profile with an expected temperature profile for that ground engaging product; and indicate a characteristic of the ground engaging product based on the comparison. Thermal inserts for use with ground engaging products on earth working equipment are also described.

Monitoring ground engaging products

A process and tool for installing and removing various kinds of wear parts used with earth working equipment. The process and tool allows the operator to remove and install the wear parts at a safe distance so that the operator is physically remote from the potential risks of the removal and installation process. The tool may be manually operated via an operator or the tool may be a semi-automated or fully automated.

A handling system for handling ground-engaging wear parts used on earth working equipment includes handling tools to remove and handle wear parts from equipment and/or to install new wear parts. The tools can include a torque or other tool to engage and/or disengage a lock retained by the wear member. The handling system allows an operator maintain a distance from heavy parts being removed or installed, reducing the risk of injury.

Handling system for ground-engaging wear parts secured to earth working equipment

A lifting connector to facilitate the lifting of wear parts used on earthmoving equipment is mechanically secured to a hole in the wear part. The wear part has a latching formation to maintain the head of the connector in a preferred orientation so that it is in the proper service position for connecting the lifting connector to a lifting device. The wear part can be safely maneuvered onto and off of the earthmoving equipment while secured to the lifting device.

A wear assembly for excavating equipment which includes a wear member and a base each with upper and lower stabilizing surfaces that are offset and at overlapping depths to reduce the overall depth of the assembly while maintaining high strength and a stable coupling. The nose and socket each includes a generally triangular-shaped front stabilizing end to provide a highly stable front connection between the nose and wear member for both vertical and side loading. The lock is movable between hold and release positions to accommodate replacing of the wear member when needed, and secured to the wear member for shipping and storage purposes.
