A modular transfigurable drilling rig comprises one or more transfigurable containers with drilling equipment to form an operational drilling rig. The transfigurable containers include a first and second load bearing support and a load bearing bottom disposed between the first and second load bearing supports, thereby forming a space. The container includes drilling equipment rotatably attached to the load bearing supports or the load bearing bottom. The drilling equipment is disposed within the space. The drilling rig further includes one or more connectors adapted to engage at least two transfigurable containers together. The drilling rig further includes piping adapted to connect the drilling equipment together, cabling adapted to provide communication between the drilling equipment, and a power source connected to the drilling equipment, wherein the power source is adapted to provide power to the drilling equipment.

Modular drill system requiring limited field assembly and limited equipment support

A method of drilling and completing an underwater well entails installing conductor casing from a floating vessel into a seabed; drilling a bore through the conductor casing to a defined depth in the seabed; and installing surface casing through the conductor casing. A high pressure wellhead and mudline suspension system engages the surface casing and are disposed on the first end. The lower stress joint is connected to a lower saver sub that connects to the casing riser's lower end. The casing riser on an upper end is connected to an upper saver sub that engages a upper stress joint. The method ends by connecting the upper stress joint to a surface wellhead in fluid communication with a surface BOP; and connecting the surface BOP and the surface wellhead to a tensioning system on the floating vessel; and using a telescoping joint.

Method for using a multipurpose unit with multipurpose tower and a surface blow out preventer

The invention is a multipurpose system for a drilling and well intervention made of a pivotable, slidable cantilever on a platform adapted to pivot and to slide along an x-y axis; a tower disposed on the cantilever with a mast, a hoist winch, a splittable block connected to the mast, a trolley with a holding member wherein the trolley is moveably mounted to the mast and the splittable block, and a hoist cable that passes over the mast through the splittable block to the trolley; a storage device for storing tubulars; a racking arm secured to the tower for moving tubulars; a reel with coiled tubulars; a moveable injector head for running and retrieving coiled tubulars from the reel; and a retractable trolley moveably mounted on the mast with a holding member and adapted for positioning the tubulars over a well and over an additional work area.

Multipurpose unit for drilling and well intervention

The invention is a method for drilling a well and for well intervention using a multipurpose system on a pivoting, slidable cantilever on a platform to drill a well and to perform well intervention operations, wherein the method involves pulling a completion tubing out of the well; forming completion tubing segments pulled from the well; setting back the segments into a storage area; running the coiled tubulars into the well; removing used completion equipment from the well; preparing the well for new completion equipment with the coiled tubulars; pulling segments of new completion tubing from the storage area and breaking segments of new completion tubing into individual joints and removing the individual joints from the cantilever; running into the well with coiled tubulars and installing the new completion equipment; building segments from individual joints and setting the segments in the storage area; and running segments and new completion equipment into the well.

Method for using a multipurpose system

A hawser system for connecting a semisubmersible tender to a deep draft caisson vessel comprising: a first winch and a second winch disposed on the first end of the tender; a first hawser connected to the first winch and a second hawser connected to the second winch; a first sheave and a second sheave disposed on a second end of the tender opposite the first end of the tender, the first sheave for engaging the first hawser and the second sheave for engaging the second hawser; a first hawser fairlead disposed on a first side of the tender for receiving the first hawser and a second hawser fairlead disposed on the second side of the tender for receiving the second hawser and wherein the first hawser crosses the second hawser three times as each is reaved to each fairlead and wherein the first and second hawsers pass beneath the deck of the tender to the deep draft caisson vessel; at least one connector or joining the first and second hawsers at a position n the deep draft caisson vessel, after the hawsers pass each fairlead.

A semisubmersible multipurpose unit (MPU) having a deck, a multipurpose tower secured to the deck, supports, pontoons connected to the supports with each pontoon adapted for ballast transfer, at least two hawsers connected to the MPU for connecting the MPU to an object at sea having a mooring system, a hawser guidance system to direct each hawser to the object at sea, a crane secured to the deck of a semisubmersible MPU, and at least an 6-point mooring system, wherein the combination of the semisubmersible MPU, hawsers and 6-point mooring system create a global equilibrium between the mooring system of an object at sea and the at least 6-point mooring system and the hawsers have both an elasticity sufficient to accommodate the wave frequency between the object at sea and the MPU and a stiffness adequate to synchronize the average and low frequency movements during a 10-year storm.

Multipurpose unit with multipurpose tower and method for tendering with a semisubmersible

A method of using a semi-submersible tender with a deck, a shape that results in a combined environmental load less than 1000 kips in a 100-year extreme weather condition, a plurality of supports each with a rounded shape connected to the deck, a plurality of pontoons connecting the supports with each pontoon being capable of ballast transfer, wherein the tender is used for mooring in a tendering position relative to an offshore platform during a 1-year, 10-year, and 100-year storm, as well as non-storm conditions, using hawsers with adequate elasticity to accommodate the wave frequency between the platform and the tender and adequate stiffness to synchronize the mean/low frequency movement between the platform and the tender under an environmental load produced during a 10-year winter storm, and enough slack during a 10-year storm to enable the tender to move to a tender standby position, and wherein the tender uses an at least 6-point mooring system for creating global equilibrium between the platform and the tender.

A mooring system for a semisubmersible tender which comprises a deck, a shape that results in a combined environmental load of less than 1000 kips in a 100-year extreme weather condition, a plurality of supports connected to the deck, a plurality of pontoons connecting to the supports, at least two hawsers for connecting the tender to a production platform, each having adequate elasticity to accommodate the wave frequency between the production platform and the tender, and adequate stiffness to synchronize the average and low frequency movement between the production platform and the tender under an environmental load produced during a storm having a designation of up to a 10-year storm in the tendering position, connectors securing each hawser, a hawser guidance system; and an at least 8-point mooring system with each mooring lines consisting of: a first length of steel wire rope; a length of polymer rope secured to the first length of steel wire rope; a second length of steel wire rope secured to the polymer rope; and creating global equilibrium between the production platform's mooring system and the at least 8 point mooring system of the tender.
