An augmented reality-based lighting design method includes displaying, by an augmented reality device, a real-time image of a target physical area on a display screen. The method further includes displaying, by the augmented reality device, a lighting fixture 3-D model on the display screen in response to a user input, where the lighting fixture 3-D model is overlaid on the real-time image of the target physical area. The method also includes generating, by the augmented reality device, a bill of materials (BOM) that includes a lighting fixture corresponding to the lighting fixture 3-D model.

Lighting and internet of things design using augmented reality

A linkable linear light emitting diode (LED) system provides apparatus and methods for mechanically, optically, and electrically linking multiple LED modules disposed over a wide and separated area of a ceiling system. Openings can be cut in ceiling tiles of a drop ceiling system and the LED lighting modules are coupled to the tile through the opening, with the tile being sandwiched between different portions of the module. A remote driver system is placed within the drop ceiling above the tiles and provides multiple connectors for powering a multitude of lighting modules. Certain of the LED lighting modules include both input and output connectors for both receiving power or data and providing power or data to other modules. In this manner, some of the modules act as master LED lighting modules and those receiving power and/or data therefrom are act as slave modules.

A heat sink assembly for a light fixture can include at least one heat sink fin disposed in thermal communication with at least one heat-generating component of the light fixture, where the at least one heat sink fin includes a thermoplastic material. The at least one heat sink fin can absorb and dissipate sufficient heat to comply with applicable industry standards for the light fixture.

A lighting device includes a first string of light emitting diodes (LEDs) configured to emit a warm white light having a warm Correlated Color Temperature (CCT). The lighting device further includes a second string of LEDs configured to emit a cool white light having a cool CCT. The lighting device also includes green light LEDs that emit a green light. A flux of the green light is controlled based on a flux of the cool white light or a flux of the warm white light. The flux of the warm white light and the flux of the cool white light change proportionally with respect to each other.

A light source fabrication process to fabricate a customized light source includes attaching a plurality of light emitting diodes to a circuit board, where each light emitting diode is configured to emit light within a same wavelength range. Further, the light source fabrication process includes applying a first phosphor layer to a first set of light emitting diodes of the plurality of light emitting diodes and applying a second phosphor layer to a second set of light emitting diodes of the plurality of light emitting diodes. The phosphor layers are applied to the light emitting diodes using one of a screen printing process and an inkjet printing process. The first phosphor layer is different from and has different optical properties from the second phosphor layer.

Light source and method for making a light source

A parking facility illumination and space indicator system includes a lighting fixture configured to emit an illumination light to illuminate a parking facility and an indicator fixture coupled to the lighting fixture by a first electrical cable. The indicator fixture is configured to indicate availability of one or more parking spaces in the parking facility. The system further includes a sensor coupled to the lighting fixture by a second electrical cable. The sensor is configured to sense availability of the one or more parking spaces for parking. The lighting fixture is configured to provide power to the indicator fixture over the first electrical cable and to the sensor over the second electrical cable. The indicator fixture indicates the availability of the one or more parking spaces based on space availability information from the sensor.

A color control user interface can include a controller, a display area, and a three-dimensional shape generated by the controller and disposed in the display area. The three-dimensional shape can include a first axis that represents a first range of selections for a first color factor, a second axis that represents a second range of selections for a second color factor, and a third axis that represents a third range of selections for a third color factor. A control engine of the controller can be configured to receive user selections having a first selection of the first color factor, a second selection of the second color factor, and a third selection of the third color factor. The control engine can also be configured to compare the user selections to light source information stored in memory, and send commands via a transceiver to at least one light source.

A lighting fixture can comprise a flexible substrate and an array of light emitting diodes (LEDs) coupled to the flexible substrate. In various embodiments, the array of LEDs can be disposed at one region of the flexible substrate, with another area of the flexible substrate free from LEDs. Light emitted from the LED array can be incident upon the area that is free from LEDs, and that area can manage the incident light to achieve a desired effect. Accordingly, the flexible substrate can filter, diffuse, refract, transmit, diffract, imprint information upon, or otherwise purposely manipulate light generated by associated LEDs The flexible substrate may be manipulated into different forms for different lighting fixtures styles and models and for different applications.

A method of iteratively adjusting a color of light emitted by a light source includes setting a weighted target color to an initial color of a light emitted by a light source. The method further includes determining a target color of the light by a color controller to iteratively adjust a color of the light to the target color of the light. The method also includes determining an updated weighted target color as a combination of a portion of the weighted target color and a portion of the target color. The method further includes adjusting the color of the light by the color controller to the weighted target color.

Controlled color transition

A lighting fixture includes an elongated lens having an inner surface and an outer surface. The lighting fixture further includes a phosphor layer coupled to the inner surface of the elongated lens. The lighting fixture also includes a first reflector and a second reflector. The first reflector is attached to a first side surface of the elongated lens. The first side surface of the elongated lens is between the inner surface and the outer surface on a first elongated side of the lens. The second reflector is attached to a second side surface of the elongated lens. The second side surface of the elongated lens is between the inner surface and the outer surface on a second elongated side of the lens. The elongated lens, the phosphor layer, the first reflector, and the second reflector are extruded or molded as a single piece.

High voltage lighting fixture

A method of increasing modulation of a visible light signal. The method can include receiving a signal that corresponds to the visible light signal, where the visible light signal has a magnitude. The method can also include adjusting, by a controller and based on the signal, a dimmer level of a dimmer by an amount, where the amount is proportional to the magnitude of the visible light signal, and where the dimmer level adjusts an output of a driver circuit. The visible light signal and the output of the driver circuit can be combined into a power signal and sent to one or more light sources. The one or more light sources can use the power signal to generate a light output that includes a visible light communication signal that is received by a receiver.
