A method and apparatus for docking a test head to a peripheral. A docking pin () is moved past a projection () in a catch (). The docking pin is further moved until the catch rotates and the projection in the catch engages a notch or indentation () in the docking pin. A piston () is moved on to the catch so that the catch is prevented from rotating. The piston is further moved so that the test head is docked to the peripheral.

Method and apparatus for docking a test head with a peripheral

In one aspect, a cradle system for supporting a load, the cradle system comprising a first arm with a first carriage assembly axially adjustable therealong and a second arm, opposite the first arm, with a second carriage assembly axially adjustable therealong. An actuator is associated with the first and second carriage assemblies and configured such that actuation of the actuator causes the first and second carriage assemblies to move axially in opposite directions. In another aspect, a cable support system comprising a support column and one or more tethers supported by the support column and configurable so that at least one tether is configured to move its supported cable in the same or opposite direction as the test head moves at a rate that is a constant multiplied by the test heads rate of motion where the constant may be greater than, equal to, or less than one.

Cradle and cable handler for a test head manipulator

A test head manipulator system comprising a base structure, a main arm unit configured to support a test head and to be moved relative to the base structure, an actuator having a range of motion of L, and an enhancement mechanism positioned between the main arm unit and the actuator and configured such that movement of the actuator a first distance causes the main arm unit to move a second distance that is greater than the first distance. Additionally, a fluid control system for controlling a test head manipulator system. The pneumatic control system includes a regulator configured to controllably provide an output pressure to the main fluid actuator, and a second fluidly controlled actuator configured to adjust the regulator to modify the output pressure provided to the main fluid actuator. The second actuator is configured to be positively positioned in at least four operating modes with each operating mode causing the regulator to provide a different output pressure to the main fluid actuator.

Test head manipulator

A system for positioning a load including a support column, a drive rail unit coupled to the support column, the drive rail unit moveable relative to the support column, a vertical carriage moveable along the support column, wherein the vertical carriage supports the load, an engagement member which engages the drive rail and which moves along the drive rail, and a motor which applies force to the engagement member, causing the engagement member to move along the drive rail. The motor is coupled to the vertical carriage so that, as the motor applies force to the engagement member, the vertical carriage moves relative to the drive rail unit, the vertical carriage is also moveable with the drive rail unit so that the vertical carriage and the drive rail unit move relative to the support column. A method of positioning a load is also provided.

An apparatus for supporting a load comprises a pivot apparatus coupled to the load and movable with the load; and a base stationary relative to the pivot apparatus. At least two areas of support are situated between the pivot apparatus and the base. Respectively opposite force components are at the two areas of support. The two areas of support move along a one curved path to tilt the load.

An apparatus for supporting a device, comprising a base assembly, a plurality of carrier columns extending from the base unit, and a plurality of vertical support plates, each vertically movable along a respective carrier column and including a pivotal device mounting bracket. A safety lock system prevents unlocking of a balanced loaded unit when the loaded unit becomes unbalanced. A plurality of calipers applies pressure on opposite sides of a guide rail. A lock block couples the load to at least one of the calipers for movement of the load along the guide rail. A rotatable handle is coupled to the calipers through a shaft. Rotation of the handle locks or unlocks the lock block against vertical movement. A safety block is coupled to the loaded unit and is moveable with the loaded unit for preventing rotation of the handle upon a preselected movement of the loaded unit relative to the lock block.

A system is useful for positioning a load, such as a test head. The system includes an arm which supports the load and which moves along a first vertical axis. The system also includes a rotation unit for rotating the first vertical axis about a second vertical axis spaced apart from the first vertical axis.

A positioner facilitates docking and undocking of an electronic test head with a device handler. The positioner provides for rotation of the test head about a first axis. The positioner includes a support structure for moving the test head along a second axis orthogonal to the first axis. The support structure accurately docks the electronic test head with the device handler.
