A bead forming system for forming a tire bead may include the following: a housing, a first bead former configured to facilitate the formation of the tire bead, and a base secured to the first bead former, where the first bead former includes a bead-receiving surface that is rotatable relative to the base. The base may be adjustable such that the first bead former is movable from a first position to a second position. The first position may be on a first side of the housing, and the second position may be on a second side of the housing. A second bead former may be located in the second position when the first bead former is located in the first position, where the second bead former is located in the first position when the first bead former is located in the second position.

Bead forming system with dedicated setup area

A cutting apparatus for an elongate wire is provided, and includes a housing that supports a first cutter that has a body, a recess, and a cutting blade. The cutting blade is disposed upon a wall of the body that defines the recess, the first cutter is fixed with respect to the housing. The housing additionally supports a second cutter that has a body, a recess, and a cutting blade, wherein the cutting blade is disposed upon a wall of the body that defines the recess. The second cutter is normally positioned with respect to the first cutter such that the recess of the first cutter is aligned with the recess of the second cutter, and is movable to a second position where the recess of the second cutter translates with respect to the recess of the first cutter, such that the respective cutting blades translate toward each other.

In one example, a festoon system comprises a festoon module having a support assembly, and further comprises at least one upper sheave and at least one lower sheave, which are movable relative to one another by movement of at least one of the upper sheave or the lower sheave. At least one wire is configured to enter the festoon module at an entrance region, extend around a groove of the least one lower sheave and at least one groove of the at least one upper sheave, and then exit the festoon module at an exit region. A first coupling location of the support assembly is adjacent to the entrance region of the festoon module, and a second coupling location of the support assembly is adjacent to the exit region of the festoon module. Different modules are configured to be coupled to the second coupling location.

A bead-apex assembly system comprising a bead forming system and an apex application system. In one embodiment, a supporting assembly is located at least partially between the bead forming system and the apex application system, and the supporting assembly is adapted to move an annular bead ring from the bead forming system to the apex application system.

An apparatus for forming a tire bead may include a rotatable bead former having a front portion and a back portion. The rotatable bead former may include a first step with a first diameter, the first step having at least a first bead-engaging surface circumnavigating an axis and configured to receive a first tire bead, and a second step located closer to the back portion than the first step, the second step having a second diameter different than the first diameter, and the second step having a second bead-engaging surface circumnavigating the axis and configured to receive a second tire bead.

Multi-step bead former

A system for adjusting a path of a wire includes a precast pulley assembly having at least one precast pulley having at least first and second positions. The at least one precast pulley may be adjustable from the first position to the second position without a user touching the at least one precast pulley. A path of a wire is adjusted when disposed around the at least one precast pulley when it is in the second position instead of in the first position. In one embodiment, the precast pulley assembly includes first and second precast pulleys disposed in an adjacent relationship with respect to one another, wherein a wire can selectively pass over one or both of the first and second precast pulleys.

Apparatus and method for measuring circumferential surface dimensions of workpieces. A circular table is mounted with its upper surface in a horizontal plane for both rotational and reciprocal vertical movement. A plurality of through slots in the table extend radially with respect to its central axis of rotation. A like plurality of gripper fingers having both vertical and angularly disposed edges are affixed to a common cable for radial movement with respect to the table axis. When the table is in its upper position the fingers are positioned below corresponding ones of the slots, and when in the lower position portions of the fingers extend through the slots. As the fingers are moved toward the workpiece it is engaged by and rides up the angularly disposed edges until it abuts the vertical edges of the fingers. While the workpiece is supported above the table surface, one or more wheels rotatable about vertical axes are moved to engage the surface to be measured. The table is then rotated, with rotation of the workpiece transmitted to the measuring wheel(s) to provide the dimension of the circumference of the workpiece surface.
