An improved crankshaft for an internal combustion engine with a self-pumping feature for oil to lubricate the rod bearing journals. Leading faces of the lobes carrying the rod bearing journals contain funnel ports to gather oil as the crankshaft rotates about its axis of rotation. The funnel ports are fluidly connected to an internal passageway within the crankpin. Outlet ports oriented radially inwards and outwards from the internal passageway allow the oil to flow into the space between the crankpin and the rod bearing. In this way, as the crankshaft rotates within the crank housing, oil captured by the funnel ports flows through the internal passageway and through the outlet ports so as to lubricate the rod bearing around the crankpin.

Self-pumping oil crankshaft

A load balancing system for a system of rotating elements such as a helicopter rotor or an airplane propeller. The load balancing system includes two or more balancing tubes rotationally attached to blades or props on the system of rotating elements. The balancing tubes are slightly curved and enclose a hollow space containing a quantity of weighted fluid such as mercury. During operation of the system of rotating elements, the weighted fluid disperses throughout the hollow space in the balancing tubes so as to counter any imbalance in the system of rotating elements. Centrifugal forces will cause different dispersal of the weighted fluid throughout the hollow space depending on the overall pulling or pushing forces resulting from any imbalance.

Load balancing system

The present invention is directed to a dual engine-compressor system having a crankcase enclosing a crankshaft and having engine cylinder housings and compressor cylinder housings linearly disposed on opposite sides of the crankcase. Combustion pistons are reciprocatingly disposed in the engine cylinder housings and defines alternating combustion chambers on opposite sides of the pistons. Compressor pistons are reciprocatingly disposed in the compressor housings and define alternating low and high pressure compressor chambers on opposite sides of the compressor pistons. The compressor pistons undergo a 4-cycle process to drawn in, re-distribute, and then compress fluid. The compressor cylinder and piston has a series of one-way intakes and reed valves to selectively draw or push fluid in response to movement of the compressor piston.

A reciprocating device which may be operated either as a compressor or an engine. Each cylinder has a reciprocating piston connected to a piston rod. Dual cylinder chambers are located in each cylinder on opposite sides of the piston. The pistons are connected to a scotch yoke which translates the reciprocating motion of the pistons to rotary motion at a shaft in the engine mode. In the compressor mode, the shaft is connected to a power source. The engine components such as the pistons, rods, bushings and cylinder lines may be high quality steel or a ceramic.

A piston for a combustion engine having an oil ring groove on the exterior of the piston which communicates via oil holes with an oil trap extending around the interior of the piston. The oil trap captures lubricant on the downward stroke and pumps lubricant to the piston and cylinder walls on the upward stroke. An oil ring assembly having a wiper, expander and oil ring sections may be provided in the oil ring groove. A bridge may also be provided to support the cylinder head.

A load balancing system for rotating members such as vehicle wheels and engine flywheels. An annular groove or recess in the wheel or flywheel receives a length of flexible tubing joined to form a continuous annular ring. The ends of the tube are secured by a sleeve. The tube is partially filled with a balancing fluid mass such as a mercury or small metal balls in a viscous fluid such as silicon. To protect the tube, a sealant is injected into the groove or recess.

In a preferred embodiment, the insert has a conical projection and cover which define the fluid chamber and which define an annulus on the club head face.
