The present disclosure is directed to a method of producing a surge arrestor module, comprising the acts of (i) providing a plurality of MOV blocks arranged in a stack, (ii) applying an epoxy-reinforced structural layer to an outer surface of the stack, (iii) after the applying, inserting the stack into a flexible bladder, and (iv) curing the epoxy-reinforced structural layer with elevated temperatures while the flexible bladder applies radially aligned pressure to the stack and a tool applies axially aligned pressure to the stack. The present disclosure also includes an apparatus for performing the methods described herein. The apparatus includes an outer case structure and a flexible bladder that fits within the outer case structure. A hollow inner region of the outer case structure is pressurized to force the flexible bladder against the surge arrestor module as the surge arrestor module is curing.

A support core system for deploying a cold shrink rubber over a cable splice connection in an electrical distribution system. The support core system includes a first solid core, a second solid core, and a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film. The first solid core is configured to fit over a cable in the electrical distribution system and hold a first portion of the cold shrink rubber in an expanded state. The cable includes the cable splice connection. The second solid core is configured to fit over the cable and hold a second portion of the cold shrink rubber in an expanded state. The PET film is positioned between the cold shrink rubber and each of the first solid core and the second solid core.

The present disclosure describes various devices and methods for the reconstruction or restoration of a metallic shield of a cable, which provide a holding feature for simplifying the installation of an electrically-conductive member on the metallic shield and improving the reliability of the connection. Both factory-supplied and field-installable holding features are described.

Devices and methods for connecting to a metallic shield of a cable

An apparatus and methods of securing a C-Frame to a cable run during the installation process of a cable tap are disclosed. A holding device is removably coupled to an interface positioned adjacent to a C-Frame loosely coupled to a cable run. The holding device which is coupled to the interface is slid over and onto the C-Frame, thereby securing the C-Frame to the cable run. Thereafter, a cable tap is coupled to the C-Frame.

An apparatus and method of assembling a bracket assembly on a cross-arm is disclosed. The bracket assembly comprises a bracket, adjustable plate, first accessory frame, and second accessory frame. First accessory frame and second accessory bracket are coupled to the bracket with captive nuts. The bracket assembly is secured to a cross-arm by the adjustable plate, which is coupled to the bracket with at least one guide pin and an adjustable plate bolt.

The present invention provides, in various embodiments, a push on cap for an electrical cable that can be both temporary and permanent. The cap includes an extension that can be folded back for temporary installation of the cap on the cable, and unfolded onto the cable for permanent installation.

A network protector fuse is disclosed. A fuse is coupled to a fuse cover of the network protector fuse utilizing fasteners. Further, at least one captive fastener is inserted into the fuse cover and configured to couple the network protector fuse to a network protector. The at least one captive fastener is restricted from dislodging from the fuse cover.

A support core includes a tube body for holding a device in an expanded state, a low-friction film disposed over an outer surface of the tube body, and a fixing device for holding the film in place, the fixing device comprising a loop of tape wrapped longitudinally over the film and through the tube body, or a tab on the film that is affixed to the tube body. To remove the tube body, the tape and/or film are cut so that the film can slide towards the front end of the tube body, and the tube body is then pulled out of the device.

A secondary bushing with a sleeve for each conductive contact is disclosed. The secondary bushing is secured to a transformer wall by a mounting assembly and comprises a first side and second side. The first side is positioned within the transformer wall and includes a first conductor. The second side is positioned outside of the transformer wall and includes at least one cable connector that is coupled to a power cable. Instead of exposing the conductive contacts of the cable connector and power cable, a sleeve is inserted to insulate and seal each conductive contact.

A device for electrically connecting a cable metallic shield to another electrical element includes a neutral connection portion and an extended connecting member. The neutral connection portion is a flexible contact strip for electrically connecting to the metallic shield of the cable. The extended connecting member connects to the neutral connection portion and is used to electrically connect to another electrical element. The extended connecting member has a plurality of electrical members disposed over the contact strip. A clamping device biases the contact strip against the metallic shield of the cable. In use, an environmental jacket from the electrical cable is removed to expose the metallic shield of the cable. The contact strip is wrapped around the exposed metallic shield, and the clamping device is then connected to the contact strip. Another end of the extended connecting member is then used to connect to the other electrical element.

Method and related device for connecting to a metallic shield of a cable

An arc proof cover with an integrated window is disclosed. The arc proof cover comprises a body and cover composed of arc and track resistant material. The body includes a first end, second end, and at least one window. In a closed position, the cover is placed over the at least one viewing window. A locking mechanism secures the closed position of the cover. When the locking mechanism is disengaged, the cover can be moved to allow visual inspection of the connectors within the arc proof cover. The body further includes an opening along its length which allows for the wrapping and unwrapping of the arc proof cover around the connectors of an assembled cable accessory.
