A superabrasive-impregnated earth-boring rotary drill bit includes cutting features extending outwardly from a bit body in a nose region of the drill bit. The cutting features comprise a composite material including superabrasive particles embedded within a matrix material. The cutting features extend from an outer surface of the bit body by a relatively high average distance. Methods of forming a superabrasive-impregnated earth-boring rotary drill bit include the formation of cutting features that extend outwardly from a bit body of a drill bit in a nose region of the drill bit. The cutting features are formed to comprise a particle-matrix composite material that includes superabrasive particles embedded within a matrix material. The cutting features are further formed such that they extend from the outer surface of the bit body by a relatively high average distance.

Earth-boring tools with extended cutting features and related methods

A method includes positioning at least one guide projection on a substrate of a metal part such that the at least one guide projection extends outwardly from an outer surface of the substrate to an exposed length. Hardfacing is then applied to the substrate of the metal part at or near a location of the at least one guide projection. The exposed length of the at least one guide projection is then referenced in determining when to cease application of the hardfacing.

Earth-boring tools comprise a body comprising at least one pocket extending into the body. A first discrete cutting element segment is secured within the at least one pocket. At least another discrete cutting element segment is secured within the at least one pocket. Methods of forming a cutting structure secured to an earth-boring tool comprise disposing at least one discrete cutting element or at least one cutting element segment within a pocket or recess formed in a blade extending longitudinally and radially over a face of a body. At least one discrete wearable element or at least another discrete cutting element segment is disposed within the pocket or recess. The at least one discrete cutting element or at least one discrete cutting element segment and the at least one discrete wearable element or at least another discrete cutting element segment are secured to the blade within the pocket or recess.

Cutting structures, earth-boring tools including such cutting structures, and related methods

Methods of forming inserts for earth-boring tools include providing a material in a pattern adjacent a strip, arranging a plurality of superabrasive particles proximate the pattern, and securing at least some of the plurality of superabrasive particles to the strip. The material is configured to attract or secure the plurality of superabrasive particles. Some methods may include imparting like charges to each of a plurality of superabrasive particles, placing the plurality of superabrasive particles over a strip, and securing the superabrasive particles to the strip. In some methods, a first plurality of superabrasive particles may be placed in an array between a first strip and a second strip. A second plurality of superabrasive particles may be placed in an array between the second strip and a third strip. Methods of forming earth-boring rotary drill bits include forming an insert and securing the insert to a body of the bit.
